i wanna buy sabateur but - i'm concerned about this 4 physical core business. what doesit mean? every single one of my machines is an i7 with 4 cores and 8 threads and the way the future is looking this is about to increase. is it talking about systems with more than 4 physical cpus or things like amd threadrippers?

There really isn't any game that needs several physical processors, reducing the potential player base to workstation-level hardware isn't a wise economic move ;)

Even the most demanding ones nowadays don't fully use 8 threads (at least out of those that i've played), so those i7s are probably fine...

my bad. i should have probably mentioned that the game page says that it is incompatible with too many cores. not whether my system is powerful enough to run it :)

Oh i see. Thats odd, never had a game complain about too many cores. But your i7s have 4 physical ones so they should be fine.

EDIT: no, actually im not sure how the game would handle multithreading. Of course it could be disabled but it would probably see them as more than 4 cores. Interesting. Maybe someone else has tried it.

I think it's called "Sabbatteur", no?

I own a i7-4790 CPU (4 cores, 8 threads as you) and could play "The Saboteur" without any problems. :)

There's a bug that crashes the game if more than 4 cores (inc HT ones on i7's) are detected. Fortunately, there's a patch:-

The best place for this stuff is game specific forums rather than the general forum:-

There are ways to make a game see less cores than you have, if the need ever arises. I have needed to do just that in a couple of games; Fallout 3 was one of them. I forgot what it was called but you can find it easily enough now that you know of it.
