Hello!
I had some issues with performance running Pinball Dreams on the DOSBOX platform.

The Amiga versions running under for example FS-UAE is vastly superior..

So I just wondered if someone has hints for me to get the DOS versions running on a regular DOS PC ?
Can I run them on a Win95 machine even ?

Thankful for hints ! Would be fun to try on real metal .. ! :-)

By the PC version, do you mean the GOG version?

Anyway, as I recall, Pinball Dreams PC version was inferior to the Amiga version, ie. it ran more jerkily etc. So I think the problem is in the original game, not DOSBox. If you can choose, play the Amiga version instead. The performance difference you see between the two versions is probably what you'd see on a genuine DOS/Win95 PC as well, it won't necessarily run any better.

Pinball Fantasies had a much more successful PC version, it ran smoothly and I recall it even offered a higher (but vertically squashed) resolution that the Amiga (OCS) version didn't have, allowing you to see more of the pinball table (less vertical scrolling).

I don't know the differences between the DOS and Amiga versions but you can vastly improve these games by replacing the .confs with the ones I've concocted.

dosboxDREAMSD.conf

dosboxPFD.conf

dosboxILLUSIONS.conf

As for running on an old PC you need to have MS-DOS installed and configure your hardware in config.sys and autoexec.bat, in Windows9x you need to run these games in DOS mode.

Yes I was planning to try to run the GoG version on a real PC / MSDOS machine.
