If these rumors are to be believed, later this week during the Playstation Experience, which should be noted is where the SF5 Capcom Cup 2016 will be held, Marvel vs. Capcom 4 will be announced for 2017.

Apparently there's a few complications with the Marvel side. Capcom's license had expired in 2013, which you might remember was when the MvsC games were pulled from online stores. Looks like they got a new license, but because Fox has the rights to the X-Men, that means no mutants in the new game, no classic characters like Wolverine, or Magneto.

I do find this part of the rumor strange. I thought Fox rights were only for cinematic adaptations. I know for a fact they did not include TV projects, but this could be a new change to the contract.

Personally, I'm more curious about who from Capcom is going to appear in it. It's not like they had many big hits lately. Are they going to feature Dante and Megaman again even though neither has had a game for many years now?
I hope that the Fox part isn't true, because it would really suck for the new game to not feature Juggernaut, Magneto, Storm, Wolverine, etc. What's even worse is that this would effectively kill any attempt to bring back the older Marvel vs Capcom games.

I know right? Wolverine was the face of the Marvel side of the crossover. And I suppose no Dr. Doom either.

Marvel has been pretty much boycotting the X-Men and Fantastic Four in their own products, because they don't want to invest in characters they can't make movies about (movies being the only thing that really matters to comic publishers anymore). For the first time ever there is no Fantastic Four series being published by Marvel. Mr. Fantastic, Wolverine, Cyclops and Professor X are all dead in the current comics contiunity. Marvel has been trying very hard to make Inhumans replace X-Men. And there are countless examples of Fantastic Four and X-Men disappearing from Marvel-licensed merchendise. They are even being removed from existing artwork when it is used for T-shirts and the like.

Hmm, I'd get excited, but it's probably only on console again. I'd play it. only to experience using Phoenix Wright in a fighting game.
I heard this rumor yesterday and I am very excited about it. I certainly hope the detail regarding FOX ends up not being true. I know that Marvel has definitely minimized the X-Men and Fantastic Four brands on the comic book side of things, but I hope that foul play doesn't extend to a new MvC game. Considering Activision was able to re-release the Ultimate Alliance games unaltered, I shall remain hopefully optimistic that we will all be hearing "BERSERKER BARRAGE!!!" again in the near future. Either way, I love this franchise and I can't wait to see an official announcement.
Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite has been officially announced.

In the trailer all we see is Ryu, Megaman, Iron Man and Captain Marvel, who is getting a movie soon, and has gotten a big part on the latest Civil War event in the comics.

No X-Men though.
No X-Men? =/

Although Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 was also released on PS4 just now, so that's neat.
No X-Men in the trailer that only features four characters is quite a wild assumption.

I was merely describing the trailer, and indeed there were no X-Men in it.
