snowkatt: that post you are replying to is almost 18 months old
Never understood why people shun necroing older threads. If one has something to say and there's a thread for it, why not use that? It most likely already has some discussion of the subject already and you're not flooding the forums with duplicate threads.

Isn't it a win-win?

mostly cause a lot of these threads are old and usually dont live up to what they once were
and a lot of peopel on the really odl threads arent even there anymore
this one is already 18 months old and quite a few arent on here anymore so you might be responding to a vacuum

having said that
quite a few of the necro's are actually more interesting then a lot of the current threads
why do you think i necro'd this thing ? https://www.gog.com/forum/general/your_first_computer/page1

Wishbone: If people didn't stupidly flag Tauto's posts as spam and thus removing them, these necro threads would be much easier to recognize.

snowkatt: but you just have to look at the date of the post
its not exactly hidden
Yeah, like Wishbone says, I saw it on the frontpage and wanted to chime in with DA:I (which then I saw the original poster had already played), and didn't check the dates at all.

Do you normally look at the dates in every thread? What I posted still holds and people could use it when they search for such games and come across this thread, the same goes for any other new advice regarding this. :)

i glance at the dates yeah
usually cause they are just above the posts themselves ;p

wise fwom your gwave !
Edit: What I mean is, if it's on the frontpage and a topic I find interesting and think people in general can find it useful in the future as well, I often skim over the dates.

When I saw that last post from today on the last page that got deleted as spam few hours later and assumed the post or two above it were new too, I didn't care about the other dates and didn't bother to check them as I started reading the previous pages.

Anyway, join in, feel free to suggest more games like this for future players! :D Also it's funny that basically a page got filled about bringing back old threads instead of actually talking about the stuff.

Green_Hilltop: I really don't recommend Magical Diary, I played it when it came out through and through and all those romances are quite unhealthy (one unbelievably so), and more importantly, if you don't want to date certain characters but be just friends with them, they become butthurt. One believably, as he just wants to use you, but the other one just doesn't make sense. Also the game feels very lonely, your friends aren't really your friends much and it's not very long (I think you can finish the game during one evening, esp. if you don't save/reload because of the stat cramming). It starts out good but then falls through, so watch a bit beyond the demo, so you won't get disappoined, esp. if you want something in the tone of Harry Potter, this isn't it. And the atmosphere, like I mentioned, is often very sad and glum.

If you want something happy, this won't be for you, although one route makes the game happier. I might be biased, but I was very disappointed by this game as it really isn't what I wanted or was expecting after playing the demo, so I felt like the demo sold me on a completely different game and then turned from a 'happy beginnings at the magic school' into a 'depressed, sad and rather lonely in a magic school' game.

Academagia is the way to go if you want a magical school simulator, for anyone interested, and it has about 16 free DLC with more quests, characters and skills. But I'm not sure if it contains a romance.
Well, I actually liked the game because of that. It's not as happy go lucky shallow as it may initially appear, although you should already have been clued in to the game's self-awareness by the default main character's name being "Mary Sue". Abusive relationships are actually something of a running theme in the game and I think the developer went about portaying that in an interesting way. I think I read on the developer's forum that loads of people stumbled into that one romance completely unsuspecting, only realizing they'd entered into an unhealthy relationship a ways into the game. So I think the game is actually pretty good at making you consider those things. But yeah, if you're only looking for a happy ride you won't find it there.

I still need to beat that without using the cheat mode.

Agreed. Once, when I was playing it for a few days in every bit of spare time, I had the pattern memorization down enough to get me to the last level, and once or twice I even made it to the last boss. Sadly, that cheater took me out every time until I level skipped with 9 lives. :S
