Dragon Age Origins is a great RPG with a well-written story and an interesting and well thought-out history and background story/universe. And there are countless mods to make the game look quite awesome.

Shadowrun Dragonfall is a great RPG in a cyberpunk setting. Also, with well-written dialogue and characters.
