joppo: It is amazing how Gog suddenly discovered that an almost 13-years old thread is against the CoC.

I get that it is their right. But do they really think this will make them more money in the long run? I think they have taken a controversial position for no actual advantage.
Our Forum Code of Conduct has been reworked in the recent years. This isn't about money, but simply following the Conduct and like the statement said, we agree with the reports received that it wouldn't be fair to keep these threads open.

fronzelneekburm: This one too.

SmollestLight is going on a rampage.
It isn't a "rampage" I'm just closing all threads, that have been reported and are against COC. :)

InkPanther: May I ask if the reporting person was actually warned for posting a link to another store, or perhaps they were, I don't know, spamming, making a mess of the forum, or trolling, and they just happened to get a warning with that particular article in CoC? It all feels very random and verges on a pettiness of someone with hurt feelings.
While I'm not at liberty to dive deeper into whom, or what happened with the user, I can assure you it has been several reports, not only one. While we investigate every report, we receive, we also make sure it isn't something used by the user as pettiness. I can definitely understand, why it would seem like a "vendetta" from a user, but it wasn't the case.

We understand this comes as a surprise, but we want to be more concise with our moderation. Unfortunately, we haven't considered these threads earlier until they have been reported to us. We are moderating everything individually, and therefore we might miss things.

This is why we are always grateful for any reports via PM! Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome as well, provided they are directed to the forum moderators and not disputed within the forum itself.

JMich: Quick question to verify my last thread isn't against the new Forum Code of Conduct (which does appear to be buried a bit, but I managed to find it), would linking to a Kickstarter about digitizing VHS tapes of Phantasmagoria 2 videos count as advertising? On one hand, Kickstarter is not a store, on the other hand, I am saying "See if you want to give your money to this project".

Edit: Hah, what do you know, there's a link in the stickies. I always believed that the best way to hide something is to stick it, seems I'm not immune to that.
Advertisements and links to kickstarters (and the like) are considered in the same terms as links to other
commercial pages. If they are there to contribute to the discussion, however, we will allow them.
Unfortunately, this thread has been further derailed and forced to close it.
