Today, the review embargo for CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt lifted. There will be reviews out there in the untamed wilds of the Internet. You can read them! But none of those reviews will be of the PC version. While review copies of The Witcher 3 were sent out for the PlayStation 4 more than a week ago, PC code is still missing in action, despite being pre-loadable on Steam. Bandai Namco tells us that this is because a big day-one patch hasn't been finalised on PC in time for today's review embargo, but will be ready for worldwide release next Tuesday.

I guess PC users will have to wait for PC experiences of the game till after release. Kind of surprised there's still work to do on the 0-day patch in the last week given the game was supposedly done already for a while and they're already working on the expansions.

This only means it is broken and not going to work before they release it....and going ahead to release it anyway.

Kinda like the broken parts of Witcher 2. Which still asks me where the friggin cd is in the drive to this day....I mean wtf seriously >_>
I believe they said any Day 1 patch would just be minor tweaks. Nothing concerning.
Until you try to install it and it jumps out of the screen to eat you face off!!! 0_0

Which then would be a poor excuse to hold back review copies if that's the case.

Not really. They'd want it to be the best it can be for reviewing. They probably only released PS4 review copies because they had to release something for review a week early!

While I can see that point it does take some of the thunder out of dropping a review embargo before release, at least for the PC crowd.

Then again, I imagine PC performance is going to be one of the most critical aspects when it comes to the game so I can see why it would be preferred to keep that under wraps till after release. There's some merit to having the game itself be the focus for a while, even though performance is a big part of that experience and should be part of any good review (at least for a PC)

I think it should at least be clear that the reviews currently out there are not PC reviews. (if the above remains true at least)

I'm afraid this game is not ready. I have read the reviews for the PS4 version and I believe that some of those issues (like quests broken and so on) are on the PC version. And the optimization... damn, I was too optimistic. And no demos or benchmark programs have been released, not even reviews. Anyway, big hugs to them.
Meh, I figure this is all part of their DRM-that-isn't-DRM scheme. After all, if they don't send out PV review copies, those dirty PC pirates can't get the game before release, can they?
I may be wrong but I think it has to do with the day 1 patch.

Never mind. I am not touching the game myself anyway, unless ALL 16 dlcs get released and the witcher wiki is updated with ALL in game choices, paths, possibilities and knowhows (like skill trees, mutagen system, alchemy craft, etc).

This is one of the few games i want to be fully spoiled before i begin, so i can choose the path that would fit my personality perfectly.

Doesn't this make the game pointless, though?
I undertsand what you are saying, yet I think the main strenght of the Witcher series is its surprise element.
I think those are the only games I played that really presented some logical but unpredictable consequences for my choices, and that is the part I personally prefer about them.

Nah. Especially in this one, i want to know who is who exactly and what i can do to/with him/her... For 1 and 2 i afforded to do multiple playthroughs with all endings and choices, but 3 is huge. I want to know precisely what i am going to do. Only 1 playthrough for 3, for me.
So... any pc reviews to report? Considering the amount of "bad optimization" and The witcher 3 did *insert bad thing* to my pc/router/house/pet/family/etc i'm wondering what will be the scores...
