Today, we bid farewell to the legendary post-apocalyptic 2D classics.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we needed to pull the three classic Fallout games, that is Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics, from sale and remove them from our DRM-free catalog. These classic titles have been with us since day one, that is for over 5 years now, and they were always one of the highlights of the selection of games that we offer. There are very few titles in the history of computer role-playing games, that have had so much impact on the gaming landscape, players' expectations, and even the popular culture. The iconic setting, the memorable quotes, and unparalleled amount of fun and challenge these games provide--it's all burned in the memory of a whole generation of gamers. Probably even more than just one generation. It was an honor to have you here, Fallout. Take good care of yourself out there, try not to mistake a gecko for G.E.C.K. (not even remotely the same thing!), and remember to take your Rad-X pills!

All those who acquired Fallout, Fallout 2, or Fallout Tactics on GOG.com prior to the date of removal (that is before Tuesday, December 31st 2013, at 3:59PM GMT), will still be able to download the games' install files (as well as the bonus content) via the "My Games" section of their user accounts. Gift-codes for these three games acquired in our recent giveaway are no longer valid. However, if you own a gift-code for any or all of them that was purchased outside of the said giveaway, you'll still be able to redeem it in the foreseeable future.

jamyskis: Bear in mind that there was a huge influx of users concurrent with the release of the Witcher 3, so it's a fair bet that those of us who own the Fallout trilogy are indeed in the minority, at least technically speaking.
I never bought tactics because I never liked it. But I own fallout and fallout 2 here. :)

I'd say the majority of active users grabbed their free copies back then ( and likely many more signed up just for those freebies ), so in order for those old users to become the minority, we'd have to assume the total user count doubled since then, which seems questionable. ( Although I'm aware of the waves of new users due to Witcher 3, Galaxy, Steam's Mod shenanigans etc. ) But even so, my point was merely, that "the few" seems like a bad choice of words when you're talking about thousands of users who grabbed those free copies. :P

By this, doesn't seem those games are coming back any time soon, but one can hope...
I got into GOG a few months after this remove, should have been here just a few months earlier...

Then Why make an account? the games were long gone before you joined, as you dont need an account to browse the library...

And what would you rather see? GOG put the game up for sale anyway and open themselves up to hostile legal action and being sued by whoever owns the Fallout IP?

"Just put up the game until you get sued lol" (which is what people sometimes have said in the past when they're told GOG doesn't have the rights to sell a given game) is not a sustainable buisness model, nor is it doing their customers or their investors any favors.

Rest assured, the negotations to bring back Fallout are likely ongoing as we speak, only that they are likely kept quiet under NDA. For now, just be patient.

I sure hope so. I still believe I'll see Fallout 1&2 here someday... Hoping that Fallout 4's launch somehow help make that happen... I know it's prollly just a crazy dream but I hope that Fallout 4 shed some light on this subject that seems dormant/dead...

You think so? It even seems to me that an eventual fallout 4 release had something to do with the removal. I know it's been a lot of time but still...
I can't see why the games are available on steam but not here. Don't matter the reason it was a dumb move.
I want the games too, but refuse to get them on steam, they belong here. They are GOG.

They are not available anymore because in the past they belonged to Interplay, now they belong to Bethesda. And GOG has no agreement (maybe no contact even) with Bethesda. Stop necroing this thread, I'm always close to a heart-attack when I see it as I too hope for them to get back here :D
