SLP2000: No idea. I just read about it long time ago. And now you can check the links.
I did....from what I gathered it IS the floppy version, but it also says the Roa2 soundtrack is incomplete. I was wondering if that's true for all the games in the series, and if the missing stuff is just from/in the extras(soundtrack files) or the game as well(no music while playing/etc).
No answer on this yet? :\

SLP2000: Not sure, but I don't have CD version. It was long long time ago, AFAIK. I think long before most of us bought it here.

GameRager: So they cut out the cd audio soundtracks? Is that for just RoA 2, as listed in that thread, or for both games(1 and 2)? Also is there still music in the game(I have it but haven't played yet.)? They just removed the standalone soundtrack from the one(Or both) game(s)...right?
I think the first one has been completely replaced by MIDI track, due to licensing issue. The second game, i still can hear CD Audio track but not sure whether some of them has been replaced by midi or not.

So you mean the music in-game(for the first) has been replaced(supposedly) by midi right? Or the soundtrack extras for the first game was replaced by midi?

Thanks for the info then.

I'm a new customer, and I only read good things about GOG so far, but I am now concerned about this issue.

I buy a game including its bonus and it's common sens that it stays the same in my account.

Hopefully it's just a mistake from GOG, I really like their service so far and hope it will stay as good in the future. I hope the people affected by this will get their items back, though.

The in-game music has been replaced with midi. For the soundtrack, it was trimmed down to couple of tracks only, Maybe 6 or 8.. but still audio track, not midi. It's just incomplete.
Interesting. Any more follow up on this?

TheEnigmaticT: Hm. This is news to me. I'll ask Product what has happened with these.
While we're on the subjects of what happened to extras - can you spot the difference between these two images ? For bonus points: guess which is the "enhanced" version...
Well, the picture on the left has clearly a better resolution....But couldn't answer.

About 50% of the time, "digital" manual/map/something means "shit for quality".

I mean, what the hell, scanner properties -> quality scan -> at least more than 120 dpi please.
Still pending an answer on this; I believe I'll be able to get back to you today.
No hurry, I respect that you have the time to answer our worries like this.

Many services wouldn't do it.

(Me just barging into the scene at this point ; D)

OK, let me spill it out:
1) The_Witcher_2_artbook.zip - 194MB - image on the left - d/l 2012.04.02 - regular edition
2) The_Witcher_2_ee_artbook.zip - 48,7MB - image on the right - d/l 2012.04.19 - "enhanced" edition
It's not scanning quality, it's image compression.
I can kind of see the reasoning why GOG doesn't put up a news post every time they remove something small like a wallpaper or something similar because you could end up with quite a few of those posts.

@TheEnigmaticT

you mentioned that next month there will be a flag in the shelf/My Account section anytime something gets updated. Perhaps that same feature could be used to inform the purchaser of that game that content has been removed due to whatever factors beyond GOG's control. I still think that major changes, such as going from to the CD to floppy version of a game or a game being completely removed, should receive a news post. Maybe this would be a decent compromise?

I meant generally speaking.

I replied to you because it only vaguely touched the issue of low quality digital goods. I understand that the pdf can't be more than a few megs, but most of the times the images are really blurry and overall it looks shitty. It absolutely can't be a substitute to actual manuals.

Ok, rarely happens with new games, but then you'd be happy if you get a decent digital manual at all.
