There will be bloody good times.

Turmoil, a lighthearted strategy/management game where you drill hard on your way to becoming a turn-of-the-19th-century oil tycoon, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 30% launch discount.

We've all heard the stories, seen the ghost-towns, and watched the Oscar-winning drama. But who knew that participating in the oil business of 1899 America can be as enjoyable as it can be messy! As you grow your business and invest your earnings in the local economy, your town will also grow, competition will become more severe, and you'll need to lease more land in the auction house to keep looking for new oil wells. Hit some hard rock, a pocket of gas, or even ice? You can't give up now or the other prospectors will crush you! Buy better tools, upgrade your production line, or grease some palms in the local saloon - whatever it takes to keep you ahead of the game! Perhaps one day you might reach the wealth and status required to become the new mayor or at least the most powerful oil baron in the area.

Set up the perfect oil-drilling business and turn a huge profit out of the ensuing Turmoil, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 30% discount will last until October 5, 9:59 AM UTC.

tinyE: And on a side note, Gamious would make a great name in Titan Quest! :D

Matruchus: Do you have plans to update the Linux build with a 64bit version?
Hi,
I don't know right now. I'll check and get back to you.

Hi Matrachus,
I got your answer:
Turmoil was made in GameMaker and (unbeknownst to me) only builds in 32 bit. The game does work fine for 64 bit machines. We don't use a lot of RAM so it should not make a difference.

Hope that clears it up!

BoBFiSh: In the spirit of supporting interesting ideas and game concepts, I think I'll just bump this into the cart now instead of holding out.

Glad you brought it to gog, so thanks for that =)
Thanks!

Does look like it could be fun, and the art style appeals to me. I have a soft spot for things Deadwood-era too. :)
Looks interesting, and at a nice price. Picked it up, along with a couple other items in the sale.

Gamious: the community here appreciates it when developer staff participate in the forum. In a few ways the gOg customer base tends to get swept aside by some developers in favor of the <ahem> larger store with its much-bigger audience. I'm hoping you guys will follow the lead of Larian and other developers who actively interact with the gOg customers.

We will certainly try! To be honest though we're a small team, so we might not be able to react quickly all the time. We have to divide our attention between multiple stores and games!

Why are you so obsessed with 64-bit versions? :)
Happy to see this released here, it has caught my attention recently.
Bought btw. :)
Now this game looked interesting! Is it like Steamworld Dig or Motherlode?

Sort of curious about that as well. Is Linux, unlike Windows, pegged to just one level and won't run programs from both memory spaces (32-bit and 64-bit)? Or is it just the concern that games use the higher memory space for better performance?
Definitely wishlisted.

Can't wait for the Deepwater Horizon DLC...

Also watch out for the Mexican bandit El Son Valdez.

It's neither of those. :) Yes, the screen is a flat slice of earth. But in Turmoil you don't dig indefinitely. You play each 'level' for a set amount of time. So you have to make tough decisions about how to use your money to find and dig up oil, all the while managing storage and selling off to the highest bidder.

Sounds good! Does it run in a window?

You can play Windowed, yes.
