Still no uncensor patch from the publisher of Clanpool. I had a slight hope it may still happen but it seems those asking for have to bite the bullet.
Not sure if GOG would take down the game if they gonna provide it but GOG could become troubles with some payment-companies, i assume.
The entire situation is kinda hilarious because stuff that was "acceptable" many years ago is now considered not acceptable anymore. In fact the first Mary Skelter had the same "minigame" inside and the second title, Mary Skelter 2 was now slowly going into censorship but there was still a uncensor-patch available.
The third Marky Skelter Finale, now finally had the minigame removed during development, so there is nothing that could be restored, it is simply not anymore "allowed" on the "modern society"; as they see it.
https://censorship.fandom.com/wiki/Mary_Skelter_Finale https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlQ0H136nJ0&t=226s Mary Skelter 2 was completely banned in Australia, even in a censored version. It is not a miracle if certain "activists" are coming from this territory. Australian can not legally buy or play this game as it seems, it is banned by the state.
Tokyo Clanpool was a title from "another age" which has been re-released during a time this sort of stuff is already not allowed anymore in "modern society", that is the issue here. At least that has been told by a sufficiently big force. There is not any effect on the society by releasing it because the truth is, those games are affecting such a huge minority.. fighting them is like going against a windmill which is located elsewhere but not related to those games.
Some more insight about the entire matter:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WfE9S8rclc Sure, i would get what is "left" because not sure there is still a (not to far) future for quality-made games of the same kind, this age could be over. In that term, yes those extremists may have won "the battle" but not alone, it was just "the tip of the mountain" they was basically reflecting, backed up by a in general hostile "base" against any type of this sort of "expressions".
On the same term... even Kagura Games, at least on GOG, was probably biting the dust, as it was probably considered to risky for GOG still dealing with. We could argue that they only had rather few quality games, but i think it is not right judging about because the taste is simply different for everyone. Some gamers still value it and this should be respected, even if just a very tiny minority. Still, for GOG it was probably "not worth the troubles"; the risks very high and the income rather small. On Steam it seems Kagura Games is still able to release games but no one knows for how much longer, they have to be careful now.
