The Sinking City Remastered - Merciful Madness
The Sinking City Remastered - Worshippers of the Necronomicon
The Sinking City Remastered - Deluxe Edition

Now on GOG!
I'm happy for those who got a free upgrade. You did the right thing (buying early, supporting the dev) and got rewarded for it. Good for you.

Everyone else takes the low blow, having to pay significantly more for a remaster that no one asked for. Watching the comparison video feels like playing a silly game of "spot the difference".

I won't remove this game from my wishlist, but I don't see me buying this any time soon either. I just hope that this does *not* constitute a new trend: re-re-remastering games every year to keep the prices up high.

On the other hand making the original unavailable for separate purchase doesn't make me feel like "supporting" them. I mean sure, at least they didn't remove the original entirely, that's something, but it's still a lame cash grab. I kind of hate the idea of supporting that kind of business model.

I feel torn on this one. On one hand it's a nice gesture to give a remaster for free to those who bought the original. But on the other hand I didn't really like Sinking City for the problems it has like an open-world thats too big for what it offers, even with the DLC. And that's not fixed by this remaster.
And this remaster also doesn't run on my old GPU.

Thank you very much, Frogwares! This is not so common. I wonder if Cyan gave the owners of the previous versions of Myth at least a discount anytime they redid the game (has it been like 4 times yet?).

I prefer this model of releasing games as its far far better then what still is the anymore industry norm/standard of ''remaster and/or remake if not a reboot comes out so delisting the older game version from sale completely'' model So I say its best to encourage/support this model of game releasing to hopefully get it becoming the norm .. As while sure I prefer the ''leaving the old versions up as a separate purchase'' thing most company's would be way less willing to go that route even with encouragement as the higher ups would be like'' we are losing sales/won't get any for the newer version if we leave it up as a separate purchase''

But out of the two models I do think that this model of bundling the old version with the new one is actually more common now and only been around more or less a shorter time then the ''leaving the old versions up for others to buy along with the new version separate'' model

So ya if we want companies to leave the old game versions up for anyone to legally get ahold of easily enough rather then by other means this ''bundled in with the new version'' is the way to go and encourage as much as possible

Thank you guys so much for this, I know the Sinking CIty 2 is set to 'Coming Soon' and so we have this remaster to usher in the excitement. But I have to ask, to anyone really, Is it worth it to start this game anew? I'm playing the OG version and while The detective side of things is solid; the combat not so much, I see this remaster has improvements noted to the combat, lighting and more, but is it worth it for me to start a new game with the remaster? Can I please have some honest opinions on this?
Glad to have gotten it for free, but the original is still in the vast backlog. Thanks.
Pleasant surprise today! Thanks for the free upgrade, Frogwares and GOG!

P-E-S: Am I the only one who thinks it's weird to have a remaster of a 2019 game? Honestly, tech hasn't improved that much in these last six years. *shrug*
If I were to guess, I'd say you were in the VAST VAST majority.
I'm not really complaing about the remaster ( because the upgrade is free), but I do find it extremely ...unnecessary and weird. I have a hard time believeing many people were clamoring for this, but whatever...like I said it's not really a bad thing I guess( the FREE upgrade I mean) . Just a "nobody actually asked for this " kind of thing

No. They updated only the looks, not the mechanics (to any degree worth mentioning). So if you didn't enjoy the original in it's entirety it's not worth to start from scratch.

my 2cents :)

dyscode: Yes, GOG listened to us and they learned.

Also Bioshock and Blade Runner they made the old versions available after the pressure.
Now the do it right away.

A step forward, in my book.

JomVanFliet: GOG aren't the ones that make those decisions, they're beholden to whatever the publisher asks them to do, be it delisting the original version for good and replace it with the remaster/remake or to at least keep the original version around but as a 'Legacy version' extra to the remaster/remake.

If there's anyone to be pressured to reinstate or keep the original version listed/available it's the respective publisher.
Of course GOG cannot do anything the dev/publisher doesn't want but one can say they can ask in the name of their customers and their wishes (which they mostly do) and back it up with good numbers.

I hate that some games are becoming like car models, like here's a new Porsche model with the remaster or even better arguably a new Madden or other sports game. -_-

Sarang: Now I wish I bought the original when it was like $12 for all the stuff. I feel like with the new pricing I am getting kicked in the TEETH to get the extras I want in cost, like the soundtrack and others. Thanks Frogwares for adding bloated RAM feature crap like Lumen. Lumen is crap by the way given what bloated RAM requirements it has, it's inefficient compared to Raytrlacing. edit: Plus I am NOT enabling pro-1984esque features like DLSS and Frame Generation to be able to run it.
From $12 to $35 plus possibly a change in visuals I may not like. Will a purchase of the remaster even give the option of including the original?
Just removed this from my wishlist(which was kept ON since I had the original might I add), I will wait and hope till the full version comes close to $12 again(or on Amazon) or GOG cuts the crap and lets us buy the soundtrack separately WITHOUT the game.
Are there any OTHER games coming with remasters I should worry about a major price JACK?!
edit: I know I am suppose to route for you as a developer and being your own publisher Frogwares but stuff like this, especially removing the original makes it difficult. It feels like you are grabbing me by the ankles and shaking me up and down.
I hope someone from Frogwares reads this.
FFS, see a shrink.

Piss off, it's called reading the room on the price increase for what a number of here say are MODERATE to MINIMAL improvements.
Updating it so you can jack the price up to a new game's level seems absurd and yes I have complained when others do the same thing. Persona 3 Reload, even if it wasn't censored, was still absurd debuting at full price. There are many others that have "updates" to supplant the original price.
