Your empire rises, better than ever...

The Settlers: Rise of an Empire - Gold Edition, a quality return to the core formula, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The game is available at 50% off, or 60% off if you complete the series.

The Settlers is a series fond of change and evolution, and though it's hard for a fan to call any entry "bad", some design choices have met with equal amounts of praise and criticism. After The Settlers: Heritage of Kings launched to a controversial reception, enamoring some and disappointing others - The Settlers: Rise of An Empire returns to a more classic formula, catering to the oldest fans of the series, while providing plenty of eye candy and much-needed updates for newcomers. The gameplay basics, like building and collecting resources, have been streamlined to minimise menial clicking and annoyances - but not so much that they can be considered "dumbed down". At the time of it's premiere, Rise of an Empire was considered (arguably, of course) the best to date.

To celebrate the launch, The Settlers: Rise of an Empire along with the whole series is available at 60% off when you complete your collection. You can also pick up the games at 50% off individually.

Rediscover the love in The Settlers: Rise of an Empire - Gold Edition, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The launch discount will last until September 7, 2:59 PM GMT.
Anno 1404 should be easy to convert to Steam as the patches removed the DRM and the game never had UPlay. And what about the expansions for the fifth Settlers?! And of course, Silent Hunter 1, 3+4, Blazing Angels series, the old Tom Clancy games....
Hmk, maybe this is, together with the latest humble bundle, the first sign of Ubisoft going bankrupt in the near future
and finally every IP they own will again find its way into the hands of creative and qualified people
to make great successors to series Ubisoft ruined...

I think I am still dreaming...

IAmSinistar: Given the delay, perhaps they're unsettling?
The delay is certainly unsettling.
Uh... 'Heritage of Kings' was on the very top of my "Meh-inducting games that I ever have the misfortune to play" list.

Is that release any better than "Heritage..." abomination? (yes, I've read the flyer, but with all due respect for GoG they just want to SELL they product, so for marketing reasons they will describe Vlad Tepes as "some pretty nice guy with avocation for pointy sticks and shish kebabs).

Matruchus: Heh, there are two more:

- Settlers: Path to a Kingdom
- Settlers: Kingdom of Anteria (still in development)
but those are always online only (Uplay) so very doubtfull they will be available on gog in the future.

zlep: I didn't realize that Settlers 7 was always-online. :-(

It's sad that companies are currently making games with single-player campaigns that will literally self-destruct once they stop supporting them.
The always on drm for settlers 7 was removed. It's a uplay game now.
I've never played the Settlers series before. Is this game similar to Age of Empires?
Best in the series after Settlers 3.wishlisted

Kind of yes and kind of no.
In settlers you have to build up more resoures to be able to build up units
build iron mines , build coal mines, build smelter etc, So you kind of micromanage more.
The later installment is kinda diffrent from the earlier installments.
The saying goes that the First Settlers games 1-3 were the best among settlers fans if my memory doesnt fail me.

It's like AoE meets the smurfs.
And the women all got kidnapped, so lotsa sweaty dudes (ugh) working their asses (in search of asses) :P
What about the critically acclaimed Rayman Legends? Probably the best platformer in the world.

I loved Rayman Origins and would love to see Legends land here as well.

P.S.: Don't forget to vote.

Does the game have a windowed mode?
Hmm . It's getting low rated .

Is this game that bad ?
Scored this as soon as I saw this on the front page. Ever since I knew Ubi removed the Uplay from it I knew it could make it here.

I hope the same thing happens with Heroes of Might & Magic 6 Complete Edition some day, though that still has DRM for the time being, if not permanently...

Here's hoping for more Ubi!

And bring on the rest of the Anno series just the same!

It got a lot of patches and improvements. Not sure what peoples problem is, unless they're reflecting the pre Gold Edition.

People really need to think out their reviews/ratings before they post.

Since Ubi is releasing more games here, can we get this ?

I always heard good things about it, but never played it. It's supposed to be "revolutionary" for it's time .

Yeah, Asghan is a nice old hack'n slash game. Controls are quite clunky as with many games from that time but it's fun to play. I have it on a magazine CD but it was a PITA to install and get it running on Windows XP.

I usually only buy games on sale but i'll instabuy a properly working and easy to install version. :D
