A (s)train of horrors.

The Final Station, a side-scrolling survival game about managing a train riding through the zombie apocalypse, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Here are the things one needs in order to survive the infected hordes: serious firepower, dependable allies, and a sturdy vehicle for the big escape. As luck would have it, you find yourself at the helm of a thundering locomotive. Unfortunately, though, the other two commodities will prove much harder to come by.

See, people can be valuable assets, but also huge liabilities. Like that fellow you just found after shooting your way through an abandoned warehouse. Burning with fever and desperation, he claims to be a talented mechanic and begs you to take him with you. Should you let him on board and risk spooking the others or leave him and your humanity behind? You need to make the call and fast, before the shrieking hordes come too close for comfort...

Lead a train full of desperate souls through the infected hordes and into The Final Station, DRM-free on GOG.com.
If you want to make the ride a tad more luxurious, book a seat at the Collector's Edition wagon or ask the conductor for an upgrade later on.

yogsloth: Hey, another low-fi pixelated low-effort platforming piece of crap.

And still no Gemcraft.

But at least we have GOG wallet so we can start buying IAP!
It's not a platformer, though.

Marioface5: The Final Station is a low-fi pixelated low-effort piece of crap confirmed.

(joking)
Feel free to like or disparage a game for whatever reason (referring to anyone, not just you :) ) but do make sure you have the genre right :)

There is no jumping or any platforming in this game.

IAmSinistar: What kind of train line doesn't have platforms? ;)
A post-apocalyptic one :P

IAmSinistar: That's just shoddy workmanship. ;)

Are the walking ground sections similar to Deadbolt et al? It looks similar, and I've enjoyed those kinds of games.
They're not as hectic, I can tell you that :)

You have sections where you have some exposition, talking to NPCs, and a bit of exploration. Other sections involve you fighting the zombie-looking things (I say "zombie-looking" because they don't really look like your average zombie, they're more like an ambulatory slice of darkness with anthropomorphic features and yes, they move at different speeds.)

The main thing in each section is to explore so you can find additional passengers as not all available passengers are in plain sight and you are looking for the 4 digit code to move on to the next station.

Also, it would behoove anyone playing to take advantage of throwing items as, from what I've seen so far, you can throw things at the monsters and if the thrown item connects, it's an instakill :) Saves you some ammo that way :)

Lastly, you can punch the slower moving monsters to death if you wish to conserve ammo or if you run out but that's more or less a last resort measure.
