Star Trek: 25th Anniversary, a smash-hit action/adventure, premieres digitally, DRM-free on GOG.com!

Become Captain Kirk. Star Trek: 25th Anniversary wasn't the first Star Trek game out there, but it was one of the most critically acclaimed and successful ones ever released. Based on the 1960's TV series, we get the chance to relive the adventures of Captain Kirk, Spock, and the entire crew of the Starship Enterprise. You're on a peaceful mission - the best players will avoid violence and conflict - but it doesn't mean that peril does not await at every turn. You'll get the chance to engage in orbital space battles, and lead your landing party to safety and resolution through thick and thin in a classical point-and-click adventure. Beware, the redshirt cliche is just one misstep away.

Trekkie or not, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary is your chance to play a piece of pop-culture history. Get it now, a digital premiere, DRM-free on GOG.com!
Holy crap— Exactly 7 days ago I wrote an email to a CBS senior VP asking for this. I totally take credit for making this happen!
Well done, GOG, this is a significant license and historical gaming milestone that you've acquired.

I have to say, it is still pretty fun.
Just installed and started playing. And I am sure I am not the only one who got a pang when I first heard Mr.Spock.
Few Actors have made a role his own the way that Nimoy did with Spock.
What a pleasant surprise to find these great classic Star Trek games on GoG!

P1na: Wasn't star trek one of those hard to get things? A new publisher or something of the sort?

Then again, I know next to nothing about Star Trek.

Grargar: Not new publisher, but just licenses being pesky and the like. GOG had to cooperate with both Interplay and CBS to rerelease the games.
I'd probably describe it more like CBS and Interplay had to cooperate together. I always imagine that the biggest issue in re-licensing games like this is revenue split. Interplay, being pretty much un-dead, probably agreed to much smaller percentage than most "living" publishers would, making this truly possible. All speculation on my part, of course...

Well, congrats to them.

At any rate, according to this GamaSutra press release, we should be expecting more Star Trek games from Interplay. I wonder if we'll get more games aside Klingon Academy, New Worlds, and the Starfleet Command ones.

Which would involve other publishers... That is the big question. Can GOG get CBS and Activision, Atari? and, umm, themselves (in the case of Simon & Schuster) to come to an agreement?

I'm hopeful, but, as always, skeptical. :)

While I'm not a fan of Star Trek, I would be interested in Elite Force, as it's developed by Raven Software.
Nice game, just make sure you have good space combat skills and you know your base 3 :)

Good game. I've got a physical copy. Same in the case of 25th Ann and Judge Rites. I'm personally thrilled at seeing Starfleet Academy, and I'm looking forward to the other Interplay titles, as I never did buy any of them back in the day. I also have A Final Unity and Birth of the Federation (though I've sadly misplaced the disc; it has to be around somewhere).

Obviously, I *am* a Star Trek fan... Happy day for me...

A Final Unity, now that game needs a release! That was great stuff back in the day.

Yeah, it was essentially 25th Anniversary for the TNG crowd.

I think I still have the original disc just thinking about it.
