Anybody who played this - does the story fit in with Spellforce 3, if at all? Or is it its own thing?

It's its own thing. I believe it's a prequel to all the RTS Spellforces, taking place before Eo was broken up into islands.

Spellforce 3 also takes place before the Convocation. Hence why I asked about SF 3 specifically and any potential connections/timeframe.
