Don't believe her lies – Slay the Princess is now available on GOG with a -10% discount that lasts until October 30th, 2 PM UTC.

You're on a path in the woods, and at the end of that path is a cabin. And in the basement of that cabin is a Princess. You're here to slay her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world. She will do everything in her power to stop you. She'll charm, and she'll lie, and she'll promise you the world, and if you let her, she'll kill you a dozen times over. You can't let that happen. Don't forget, the fate of the world rests on your shoulders.

Fully voice-acted with unique hand-penciled art, this new role-playing, psychological horror experience from the creators of Scarlet Hollow will leave you in awe.

Check it out!

BreOl72: I can't help but think, that the fact(?) that the player himself is some sort of monster (see attachment), will twist the narrative...
So maybe the player's world is the evil here (and the player himself) and she was to cure the player and his world, and that's why the player has to kill her, because he doesn't want to be cured?!!

However, this has nothing to do with Geralt. He wasn't the evil one.

Nope...

For the monsters in "The Witcher (3)", Gerald (and all the other Witchers) were the monsters.
As the lullaby implies...

See: it's all a matter of perspective.

CarChris: 1) The description explicitly states that you are here just to kill her.
2) If you don’t, she will destroy the world.
3) We know that she will say anything to prevent you from doing that.
4) We can’t romance her.
[...]
6) Pictures depict her that she is really a monster.

So, how exactly is it possible for us NOT to kill her??

BreOl72: Some good point(s)!

Or maybe the player is a hero in the monster kingdom and needs to slay the princess because if he fails, she is going to annihilate all orcs, goblins, trolls, ogres, ghouls, vampires, and all other beings of the monster kingdom. Think of the monster teenagers that just want to survive Monster High school and find a Monster Prom date if that will help you do the right thing here.
I will lsave $18 and wrestle with the moral implications of killing in games on my own time.

That's right!
In games I'm very good at following orders and I'm not curious at all! I would kill her in seconds and just watch the credits roll!!
I remember another game I played some years ago (I've forgotten its name though), where there was a straight road leading to a house in the woods. The orders were not to wander in the forest, and go straight to the house. I did just that and the game was finished!

That sounds like "The Path" where instructions go "Follow path to grannies house in woods" which I did without mishap and in short order, and the game was over! It is often described as being a work of art rather than a game and you have to go off-path for things to happen.

That's right, that was it! Although I don't remember anything of it. It must have been an early access or something!

And if you went off road then got eaten by a wolf, kidnapped by fairies, or any number of bad things then it would have been entirely your own fault for straying from the path.

Do the right thing people. Slay the Princess.

...
See attached picture of the hint screen when starting the game.
This is a game about decisions and branching paths.

There are ways to not slay her. But neither slaying nor not slaying her are right or wrong. Every decision leads to some ending.

Also, I remember in the announcement thread for this game the devs commented that they were going to try to add Galaxy Achievements to this game, and that they wanted to do so, but they didn't know how to do that because the engine the game uses is not super compatible with Galaxy Achievements.

But they said they were still going to try to add them anyway, and then other GOG customers replied and informed them about how another dev using the same game engine had somehow solved the problem and figured out how to make Galaxy Achievements work with it.

Although it seems that problem has still never been resolved for this game, since Achievements aren't listed on the GOG store page, which is a real shame.
Achievements for this game are strange. None are listed but I did get achievements and they show up in my profile but I'm constantly at 100% achievements because GoG doesn't list any available achievements so no matter how many I got GoG says I got them all and all of them are legendary as if no other player on GoG did get any.

Completely off topic...You describe yourself as a cat enthusiast; Would you like to adopt this cat here who has just knocked my coffee to the floor! Bad Pixel! :-)

This not only means that achievements DO work it also means that they are set into development mode which can easily be fixed by GOG or the devs.Since this is a Ren'Py game which normally has extreme problems working with GOG Galaxy achievements these are remarkable news. It seems as if the devs actually figured out the secret of getting them to work!

Did you put something in the coffee that might make it unhealthy, such as lots of sugar? If so, then you should apologize immediately to the cat.
