Haunted rice paddies.

Skulls of the Shogun, a game of turn-based tactics, is available now for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux - DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

Skulls of the Shogun is an atypical strategy game loosely inspired by the charm and gameplay of Advance Wars. Set in times of ancient feudal Japan, you'll play as an army of undead samurai on a quest to knock and blow their way past right past the inconveniently long wait for an afterlife they deserve. Skulls of the Shogun features classic turn-based combat with completely free "circle-based" movement, it's fast, accessible, and offers a healthy amount of tactical options to delve into as you progress. You will consume the skulls of your fallen enemies to ultimately become a dark, powerful demon - or you can go haunt some rice paddies.

The DRM-free version does not include the online multiplayer component! Hotseat and play-by-mail are available. To make up for the loss, this edition is priced a little lower than your regular Skulls of the Shogun release.

War your way into the afterlife in Skulls of the Shogun, DRM-free on GOG.com! The 50% launch discount will last for one week - until Wednesday, March 18 at 11:59 AM GMT.
Never really been a fan of playing strategy games, though I very much enjoy watching SC2 tournaments and games on a regular basis. What this makes me wonder is if 17 bit will also release Galak-z on GOG when it launches, it's the game I'm looking forward to the most this year, along with MonHun4.

Too bad there haven't been any real news about it since early December of last year.

Thanks
The Windows Version is still corrupted no download possible.
The Sengoku Period in Japanese history is so good yet virtually no fiction is made about it which isn't cartoony or a parody (like anime where Oda Nobunaga is a dopey girl with big boobs, herp derp). Guess Ninja Scroll counts but it was still fantasy.

Tannath: Looks nice, but I'll pass. Seems too cartoony for my taste.
cartoony is not that bad, i saw the promo and searched for the game on youtube
it looks like a kind of casual game (i like casual games and have already way too many of them but i keep on buying them)

i watched the vids and it is sooooooo fast, i cant see the nice animations cause it plays too fast...
i like cool animations and i enjoy the animations, but in this game i cant see whats happening its way to fast.

the.kuribo: So, if I absolutely adored Advance Wars is it a good bet I will enjoy this game? Or would I be disappointed if I held it to the same standards as that amazing series? Would very much appreciate input from someone who has experience with both games.

Bambusek: Both are turn based and in both you capture buildings on the map with your units. But other than that they are different.
If you has time I would recommend to watch stream on twitch tomorrow :)
Thanks for the info! I checked some gameplay footage and it looks very different in theme, style, gameplay, which is why I was a bit puzzled as to why I've seen some talk about this being an Advance Wars spiritual successor.

Wait, what anime is that? I admit I'm kinda curious...
