Space bandits.

Outlaw Sectors, a visit to the most disreputable fringe of the Solar Empire universe, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com. To celebrate, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion Ultimate Edition is 50% off.

Sometimes, in order to make a name for yourself, you may need to bend the rules a little. Or even break them into a million tiny pieces. That is also true in space and that's why the Outlaw Sectors is the most inviting -albeit perilous- place in the galaxy for anyone seeking fame and fortune. Those with enterprising minds can get themselves mixed up in pirate turf wars, specialize in smuggling, or try to overpower their opponents in over 10 new maps, each requiring a different strategic approach. As long as they're willing to mingle with space criminals or even become one.

Travel to the Outlaw Sectors and extend the reach of your empire any way you see fit, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount for Ultimate Edition will last until June 29, 5:29 PM UTC.

Antoni_Fox: My problem is buying the "Ultimate" , "Complete" , "Definitive" labelled edition of a game, only to find out that it obviously isn't any of those at all.
Same here. The sad thing is that, even if a game is rather old and that a sequel has sprouted out, there's still the chance that a new version will come out at some point. I wish developers would move on more easily; if they want to continue developing the universe their game is set in, fine, but they should really develop another game set in the same universe, not just remaster an already existing one.

This is not related to this game, but I really hope there won't be a re-re-release of Ori and the Blind Forest with Real Definitive Edition - This Time We Mean It appended to the original title.

hsojvvad: Are you really complaining about paying an extra $5? Not sure if you are joking or not. If you are not joking then it's pretty said you will not pay the extra $5 and support the devs so the can get SoaSE 2 out. And yes that is being developed now from what I read.
I don't have the game, I'm just pointing out the idiocy of calling something the 'Ultimate Edition' and then not have it include everything.
So I'm not really complaining and I am joking, somewhat.
At least it now becomes clear as to why Rebellion is still sold here at GOG at such an outrageous price for a 4 year old game (that's just the "Rebellion"-Version of the game, the base game is even older - and I own that one too).
I mean seriously, I bought Rebellion 4 years ago for roughly the same price as it is today on GOG (when not on sale), and since I wanted the GOG-Version, I kind of was waiting for the price to drop (no, half-price or 60% off is still too much for a 4 year old game I already own somewhere else).

Anyway, I am a sucker for this game, so a bought the Outlaw DLC.... obviously not here.

robertgg: Any chance that we will see Trinity as well ?

and Yes, I know that rebellion is basically trinity with rebellion addon (or something like that).

Would still like the original Trinity also.
Why?

Much as GOG has its flaws, why are you blaming them for something that is completely out of their control? That's the dev/publisher's decision to make.
Sometimes I feel like you just enjoy causing a commotion. Also known as trolling.

apehater: thats just another shitty fairytail. but ok, you can try to show i'm wrong and show me something substantial that prooves the big innocence of gog regarding regional pricing, regional locks, shitty support and the general tendency to become an other steam clone.
As I said I'm not of the opinion they have a perfect clean and pristine record. I'm totally okay with calling them out on their own flaws. (In that regard I agree with some of your views; I also think you didn't mention at least two other flaws but at the same time you blew others far out of proportion.)

But their own errors aside, the fact still remains that they don't get to name Stardock's game. They also don't get to decide whether there will be more DLC for a particular game they're not involved with other than selling it in the store.
For that matter neither does Steam, GMG, Humble, Amazon or whatever game store you might have a totally valid reason to be pissed at. Stardock and Ironclad Games are the only ones that get to decide those things.

You wanna be pissed at GOG that's totally fine whenever there is a reason for it. It happened in the past and it will probably happen again. But at least attribute blame to whoever deserves it which at least in this case is not GOG.

Edit: Or are you saying that they shouldn't accept this DLC to be sold here? Because that would be a really bad idea!

These comments are depressing. This game is 8 years old and Stardock made the decision to release some new content for the game when this game I'd imagine is waaay past any point in being very profitable to continue to support. I seriously doubt they expect to make a whole bunch of money from releasing dlc for an 8 year game. Yes words like "ultimate" implies some sort of complete edition but I doubt they expected this game to still have an active community 8 years after release. I don't see a big deal with a gaming company changing their mind and going back to release more content for an old game. I'm guessing there is alot of cynicism and people just think Stardock wants to milk some pennies from a few fans (seems like a very inefficient way to make money since this game is far past it's "prime"). I'm glad to see a company still caring about their games fan base 8 years later. As for the dlc charge this is not a charity they can't make something for free although I must admit 5 bucks for a 10mb dlc download did make me raise an eyebrow.

I really do hope we get a sequel someday that would be great. Many fun hours put into this game.

I want to play Trinity itself and you don't seem to have access to Trinity itself in Rebellion.

Yes, thats what I think. Like the other DLCs for Sins, which happen to be included in the ultimate edition, and most DLCs for other Stardock games, this one seems to offer very little content for it's price. The fact, that they release it 2 days after a bugfix we had to wait 6 months for is adding insult to injury. And finally there are those of use who prefer to buy finished games, that are not longer expanded and bought the ultimate edition for exactly that reason.

Probably cause Trinity has half lower hardware requierements making it more usuable on older or low end devices especially since Trinity does not include the rebellion graphics patch.
