Something cool for the magically gifted.

Rogue Wizards, a charming turn-based roguelike where you raid densely populated dungeons full of amazing treasures, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 15% launch discount.

You cannot isolate magic. Despite what the aristocracy of Rilfanor believes, it can materialize both in its "pureblood" population and among the less privileged members of society. Sometimes, those magically-tuned individuals might even belong to the fairer sex! The scandal!
But once these silly misconceptions are put aside, it's time to deal with the real problem: the evil monsters dwelling inside those randomly generated dungeons. Outfit your fighter with the latest in enchanted equipment, gather materials to craft even more powerful items, and prepare to do turn-based battle against scary monsters with unique traits and abilities. You can choose your spells from six distinct schools of magic and wreak havoc as you delve deeper and deeper into the uncharted depths of the ever-changing dungeons.

Indulge in your dungeon-crawling instincts and send your Rogue Wizards to destroy hordes of monsters and hoard piles of loot, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 15% discount will last until December 11, 10:59 PM UTC.

Looks exactly like my kind of game. Instabuy!
See a video of this months ago, some bad sides but some good sides too.

Cute release.
Love the graphics & the Bastion-style, float-like tile mechanic.
This looks rather fun. Wishlisted

Yes. Also a facebook post and two forum threads about it. May have a few more social media posts, but only aware of twitter and facebook ones.
A big thank you to Spellbind Studios for the GOG key for the backers!
This looks soooo cute.
Not buying it after reading some mediocre reviews.
Was interested until a you tube review said that the game does not have a save function. So if I die after spending an hour in a game level, I will need to repeat that level from the beginning. I would have purchased the game if it allowed me to save at will.

Wait a sec, that's what's rogue-like usually means (among other things). Randomly generated levels with one life perma-death. Most of the rogue-like games would be with free save too easy. Like you would be able to finish some of them with lot of luck. That would be lame. (I ever got in "nethack" only as deep as about 1/3 of the game, plus at that stage one had to know so much about lore and inner mechanics, that I already started to forgetting it, when I didn't play it daily)

I would not mind repeating levels, but having to repeat a level from the beginning after playing the level for an hour would not be fun for me. I know that others enjoy this type of challenge, buy unfortunately I will need to pass on this game.

Hey Goglings,

just to put matters to rest about saving or not saving. You can play the game in story mode (without permadeath enabled - which means after you die you can continue playing, but may have to restart a dungeon) you can also play the game in Gauntlet mode (permadeath enabled, randomized dungeons etc. - if you die, the character is dead - you cannot continue with that one and restart with lvl 1 and a new char. that is the idea behind rogue.)

As far as i know, having completed story mode back in september and working on lvl 50 gauntlet right now, i tend to quit+save whenever i feel like it :D Should be fine, although i don´t know about changes to story mode since i played. That save issued may apply there - just go for softcore on the story and play gauntlet after ^.^

Ahoy,

07

Edit: Just did a quick testrun in Story mode: also works. you can save quit and load exactly where you left off. Hope that helps.

Edit:Edit: If you want to see some gameplay you can check out some of my VOD´s on my twitch channel if you want. twitch.tv/captn3mo . I stream Rogue Wizards on a regular basis on thursdays 6 pm (UTC+2). O7
