Are you ready for remakes of these hardcore RPGs? You’re in the right place, then! Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny and Realms of Arkania: Star Trail with their Digital Deluxe Content and Digital Deluxe Edition are now out on GOG! That’s not all though – you can now get all these titles with a -80% launch discount until January 4th, 2 PM UTC!

In Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny you’ll return to Thorwal, one of the oldest cities of Aventuria. Make sure your wits are sharpened before walking down the small alleys of Thorwal and Prem, and prepare to stop the Orcisch threat while creating a mighty alliance between nations. Featuring a complete visual reimagining along with a comprehensive overhaul of every aspect of the gameplay, Realms of Arkania – Blade of Destiny is set to captivate a 21st century audience of new and old fans alike.

In Realms of Arkania: Star Trail on the other hand, the united orc tribes attempted to invade the region of Thorwal, but a group of valiant adventurers thwarted their plans during their previous quest. Now the orcs have regrouped and attacked other, more vulnerable areas – Lowangen is occupied and half the Svellt Valley lies in ashes. An elf ambassador summons the party to the city of Kvirasim. To unite the races of the elves and the dwarves in the struggle against a common enemy, they must recover an artifact known as the Salamander Stone.

Now on GOG!

Are these remakes good? I heard they were a horrible buggy mess when they came out like a million years ago :D
This was the game...that 5 months after release and 29 patches later was still only a shadow of the original game...right?
I didn't wait so long and put it into my Never order.
I loved Das schwarze Auge...but only as pen and paper RPG!
For the Gods DLC ,Ogredeath DLC and With Blade and Brilliance DLC are included in this version of Blade of Destiny?
Cannot find the information?
I suppose I can buy to verify,It's cheap xD

The product page for Star Trail Deluxe Edition makes no mention of the additional in-game content that is provided on the other platform: Dwarven Plate Armor, The Adventurer’s Cookbook, The King’s Armory and Aventurian Legends.

Is this included, and, if not, can you do something about it?

XYCat: Are these remakes good? I heard they were a horrible buggy mess when they came out like a million years ago :D
Some bugs but playable.

Overall?

Generally uninspired 3D environments (towns don't feel like "real" places... but they aren't "empty" 2D images either), "cheap" sound and art design (IMO a lot of "placeholder" sounds that were never replaced), no character animations that I can remember, bland combat maps, and... will forever be missing the final game (I believe the small dev team disbanded after a dismal launch)! And Star Trail is a modest improvement over the first game. Would have seemed that the last of the trilogy had some bit of promise had it ever been made.

This is far, far from the recent release of the Wizardry remake where there was a lot of skill and artistry on display.

If you are a big fan of the series -- or just can't get enough difficult, old-school tactical RPG in your life -- this is ok (especially at the current discount.. and yes, I bought them on console and on Steam and will buy them again here. Am I crazy!?)... but... the originals have much more character, atmosphere, and are generally better experiences.

If you want an idea of gameplay, Stordyr Gaming did playthroughs of both games.

With all of that said...

... I have no clue what the REVISED EDITION is...?

Revised graphics? Modding capability? User-contributed content?

Could this series not be as dead as I'd thought? Dunno

---------------------------------------------

Ok, I have since checked my Steam games and -- although they don't have "revised" in the title -- they share the same game synopsis with GOG... including the "revised" additions. So it looks like this is the same edition across platforms (that includes post-launch patches and "upgrades").

I love these games. Thanks!

I still hope there's something impressive up GOG's sleeve for New Year, because so far Christmas and the Winter Sale have been, let's be honest, rather lame.

I think it'll go on just like it has been this sale and we'll get something bigger during the new year 's sale or the one after. I wouldn't mind being wrong though. :)

According to gogdb, it seems all game content DLCs are included for both games, but I haven't bought the games so can't confirm they are indeed included.

We're getting GoW shortly after the winter sale, supposedly, but ngl l expected at least one headline-worthy release for christmas (Total war, Persona, Hades...? hell even Alpha protocol would've been cool)

Yeah, that's what I heard.
Was looking forward to something else, too. Oh well, we still quite a few great games this yeara and I'm looking forward to 2024. :)

Still waiting for GOG to apologize to Sami Maaranen and finally decide to sell UnReal World here.
I don't have high hopes but still it's good to know that GOG has gone back on previous "curations". Maybe 2024 will bring cool stuff.

Thanks. These games are not good but I hope GOG receives more Dark Eye Games in the future. Especially River of Time and Wolves on the Westwind.

Well, the physical media market around the holidays hasn't been very good this year. Many sale games were games that didn't sell well upon release over a year prior (old stock?). Seems almost the same in digital... very quiet season. Or maybe that's just me?
