Smells like team spirit.

Prodigy Tactics is now available DRM-free after its In Development spell, 15% off until October 5th, 10AM UTC.
Two teams locked in a deadly turn-based battle: while one is positioning itself to attack, the other is setting up its defensive strategy. Use your heroes' unique abilities smartly to pull of powerful synergies, channel Harmony or Dissonance to change the tide, and exit the arena as the victor.
I really love the art design and the look of the game, but I'm not into either strategy or turn-based mechanics... still, it looks so good that I kind of want to try it anyway.

I like turn-based and tactics, but also story. Waiting for reviews.
Looking at that screenshot I'm reminded of Pokemon Colosseum. Heh!

I hate turn based strategy.
I hate D&D games that sad, beardy weirdos in their late 40's play in their parents basements.

... but i bought this game months ago and it's epic!

I still think that D&D playing beardy weirdos in their late 40's are sad pathetic freaks though. :D

THANK YOU!

I thought I was the only one.
Turn based tactics as gameplay sounds good, but what about story and SP campaign? Does it even have one?
I am not, and never have been, a TBS fan. There are exceptions though, such as X-Com. I was interested in this from the art and the style of TBS, so I bought it and played it in dev. It was actually pretty good and interesting. However it did lack really any campaign, but there are story elements through character backstories and all. There was no story through playing it and it was more just matches you set up. They may have changed that and added a campaign, but I haven't played it in a while and didn't play any updates since I installed it about a year ago. The version I played was one of the first in dev versions released. I think they set it up as a MP game, but you can play against AI.

There were still a lot of features missing in the version I played since it was so early, but I think they were going to add a SP aspect to it. The description says 2 solo modes, skirmish and bastion.

This was my review of the in dev version:

I will first state that this review is based on the In Dev title that only includes MP and basically skirmishes. There is a story or campaign mode button that says it is in development and won't let you select it. I also only played single player because I rarely play any type of multi and prefer to play solo.

The first thing you notice about this game will be the incredible graphics, detailed characters, and sound. It looks and sounds as great as the photos and videos. While it is just basically characters on a board in game, the surrounding environments are incredibly detailed and lively. The attacks have great animation. Everything looks and sounds great.

The gameplay itself is interesting between the harmony and dissonance, but it is very slow. It's not too slow that it's not fun, it's just that it feels like it does take away a little from the experience. Each character gets an attack phase and a defense phase. You can only move during an attack phase, and you can only use a special ability once during a round. So basically you can use it during the attack or during the defense, but not both. So if you use your ability during the defense phase you'll only have the basic either harmony or dissonance attack, and the same for defense. The tiles on the board can become harmony or dissonance, but I don't fully understand yet when that happens and what it means. I noticed I could still use harmony on a dissonance tile. The tiles closer to the enemy cause you to do higher damage, but lower defense, while the tiles further away have the opposite effect. While there are only a few abilities per character, it is much more complicated than it seems to be. It's definitely not something you want to play to unwind after a long day, it requires a lot of thinking and planning.

I'll admit, I'm only part way through the tutorial, but I felt like I got enough out of what I played so far to write a review.

If they could figure out a way to speed up the gameplay a bit, I would love to give it a five star rating. As it stands, it is well worth the cost. I can't wait to see the last game mode implemented and to see how this progresses.

I posted that in the beginning of March, so that's when I played it last.

This looks very good and very interesting.

If anyone who played the game as/in singleplayer could tell me, if there is enough content/enjoyment for singleplayer only and/or if it is designed for multiplayer and singleplayer is just mediocre or less, I would really appreciate it.

Same here, i also like a good story and jagged alliance had one helluva story, i prefer the windows versions cause the characters looked better, played better and were smaller, the first DOS game had large blocky characters.

Well i am , and will always be... a huge fan of TBS games especially Jagged Alliance games, and classic Baldurs Gate.

I also liked the classic Commandos games which were realtime action games, i also love a good story /plot and if the characters also have nice voice acting ( Jagged Alliance games).

Its sad they dont make games like that anymore, i think they arent capable of designing games like that nowadays, if a clone does come along like the many fallout classic clones, they serious mess up the game because they use a 3d like engine with zooming rotating tilting and many other annoying and irritating effects.

They only create awfull versions like all the new Jagged Alliance games ( awfull 3d engine) same goes for 3d engined Commandos , Red alert, c&c and more good games they ruined because they felt they had to go 3d engine all the way...

There seems to be a new Jagged Alliance coming..... based on the old team.... i read the previews and saw some videos, imho its awfull cause they still use that dreaded awfull ugly 3d engine, yo can still rotate views and turn the battlescreen so you can see whats coming form which corner, in real life you cannot rotate a screen around its axe to see whats going on: you have to walk and while walking more parts come withinn eyesight like in the old static games i prefer.

Anyway its more meh jagged alliance games to add to the already meh games , i stick to the classic anytime :D

ow btw: telltale is shutting down... ( tbh: the tales are not that good i bought the wolf game at sale because everyone was so happy about it but... i never played it its (◕︵◕)

Cripes, if you people don't like turn-based games, move on already.
So the game is just two teams battling in an arena then?

Crosmando: So the game is just two teams battling in an arena then?
Yes, the core of the game is two teams fighting each other. There are quite a lot of rules to take into account, but the nine-part tutorial does a good job of making you familiar with them. There's quite a lot of room for strategy here: a fairly large roster of characters, each with different abilities, strengths and weaknesses, plus the interplay between harmony and dissonance (with the latter introducing a kind of push-your-luck mechanic: dissonance attacks do more damage than harmony attacks, but perform too many of them and it's a matter of time before the battlefield literally blows up in your face).

In short, there's a lot of chunky strategy to be had in this game.

I have zero interest in multiplayer, which is why I asked for a refund when the game was still "in development". I bought it again now that it's been officially released, and I'm fairly happy with the stuff they've added for single player. Aside from the tutorial, there's a "learning" mode (basically skirmishes), a "bastion" mode (where you basically face waves of attackers), and a "stories" mode.

The latter is a text-heavy single-player campaign. You'll learn more about the lore of the game and the different characters. I've played a few chapters and it's fun so far. Of course, the story is basically an excuse to do more fighting: if you don't like turn-based strategy games, there's little for you here. But if you like the game's mechanics and want some kind of backdrop than the stories mode is perfectly fine.

I really like Prodigy Tactics. It's a little rough around the edges: some effects lack sounds, sometimes the graphics glitch out (Elae's piercing attack on some maps on occasion generates textureless squares, for example), but it's mostly minor stuff. The graphics and creature design are great. The writing is also a little iffy in places (I think the team's French?), with typos, bad grammar, awkward sentences, and the like. The text is sometimes rather too small/illegible, too, especially with some tool tips and dialogue boxes.

Still, if you like turn-based tactics games, enjoy arena battlers, and are also interested in this from a single-player point of view, I'd say that you'll probably enjoy the game. At this price, too, I think it's a steal.

It does. Here is a review of the latest version, recorded last week.
