cniinc: Man, I'm so glad I'm no longer in game development. If you release too much DLC, people hold off on buying your game because it's too much to keep track of. If you don't release DLC, people think you abandoned the game. If you release complete experiences that change the game in meaningful ways, people complain that they wanted the game changed in other meaningful ways.
Shocking news: There are devs which manage to support and improve their games post release, without milking their customers for every scrap of data, and without creating a confusing and impractical mess of a dozen DLCs. When there's a universal outcry against the business tactics of a certain dev/publisher, then it's usually well deserved.
Frankly, the DLC here is a lot more confusing then the ones laid out for their Galciv 3 counterpart. I can't really tell which DLCs will be of value to my gaming experience and which I might not fancy.
I like how Stardock screw us .

PasteurisedChrome: Shouldn't it be 'leeching their customers one DLC at a time'...?

When are these parasites going to stop?
I use my best weapon for these parasites. I KEEP MY WALLET IN MY POCKET AND WON'T GIVE THEM A DIME
What is most unfortunate to those of us less emotional PC gamers, is the fact that this community is devouring its own. Make unique content for the PC, and cater to fans of a niche genre? Too bad, because your fans happen to be the biggest malcontents in the industry. We're picking on Stardock, of all publishers, now? Part of me hopes that much of the zealous anger is political, as Stardock is certainly not the enemy of the PC gaming enthusiast.

This sense of entitlement, aided by the stratospheric price of GPUs due to cryptocurrency mining, will push PC gaming further into the margins of gaming as a whole. Which, I'm sure, is what a lot of the most rabid purists want. Oh well.

Huh, that's weird. I have played dozens of games that haven't received a single DLC in the last decade (the most recent being Psychonauts), yet they do not feel "abandoned" to me.

You know what they feel like? I'd say... complete.

Also, seriously? In the age of twitter and other social media, not to mention every developer's damn site, and the only way they can communicate the game is not abandoned is by scrounging up a skin plus a lousy map and adding it a price tag? Did nobody think of posting a three sentences blog article saying "Hey I'm working on a great add-on for that game you love, releases in three months, will cost 10 bucks and will be worth 10 bucks" ?

Well said, oncologist. Such shameful behavior from pc gamers. Such misdirected and uneducated hate directed towards a publisher/developer and another developer in this case "Mohawk games". Literally creating some of the best PC only strategy games with some of if not the best engines available to do so. No game or dev is perfect but an effort is being made on their current titles.

On the topic of the Offworld Trading Company, in reponse to Ghorpm. It is an awesome game just because you lack the ability to comprehend it or its not what you were looking for fair enough. Go play the plethora of economic and simulation management games from past and present. This game is completely unique in the computer space of games offering a true challenge against other people in one of the only true RTS games. It is a Euro-style board game gone realtime with actual player interaction.

If they didn't have such a shitty marketing strategy, people would probably be a lot more receptive.
It seems the DLCs for this games are not at limited supply.

I know exactly what to do in order to let such practices die out.

This is factually totally wrong since gog version does not have multiplayer implemented besides the ranking part. The basis of multiplayer aka custom lobbies are not here as promised by Oxide games and Stardock and was advertised as such on launch here on gog.com.
