You've been struck by a smooth shopkeeper.

Moonlighter is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Managing a store frequented by monster-slaying heroes can be its own reward but Will also has a taste for adventure. After closing time, he ventures through the ancient passages that have opened up around his village to slice, dodge, and loot the monsters lurking there. His day job isn't without its challenges, though, and keeping the shop stocked and profitable can be quite the adventure without the right assistants.

The forum is here.
bought this game during Wintersale 2018 and now have some so called "doge" pictures replacing background objects in the city.
The otherwise (for me) nice experience has been DESTROYED by this.
It is still unclear why this happened and what caused it, but PLEASE remedy it!

ADDENDUM:
the annoying pictures have been removed with the current patch
