Does "mainlining" mean something bad in computer terms? I created a folder called by that name under my gog directory on my external HDD to move the demo installation download to, but if I try to open it (the as yet empty folder), it tells me I must format the disk before using it and I can't get it deleted off the drive either. I tested various of the other older folders on there and everything else works perfectly. Any advice?

Edit: Both Installing and running the demo works perfectly too, it's just that folder that seems evil.

Thanks for the demo, by the way, I am always happy to have a way of confirming whether new games will run on my old rig. This one runs fine on Vista.

There is a brand new review of this game on rockpapershotgun.com today. Might need a patch or two to clean up.

That might mean "Well, our smallest/oldest test PC we used for this one was an i3. Don't come crying if it doesn't run on your 80486"

Just completed the demo with my 14 year old daughter looking over my shoulder and I have to say we're both hooked.

Loved the startup screen(!) and the familar but different logos and businesses that kept cropping up during the game.

One little glitch that we found (is the dev here?) is that the areas on the location map couldn't be selected until after you'd selected the evidence which is on a later tab. It's no biggie, we still had fun - so much that my self imposed game buying budget is being broken yet again! :-)

but I disagree with it......well.............I disagree where they say near the start "But after many frustrations, it’s getting clicked and dragged to the recycle bin."

Yes they make VERY valid points. I did not get stuck for more than a minute or more getting the account information from the game though.

So yes there are inconsistencies and the presenting the evidence is not quite as it should be.
The biggest problem I found was the notepad you write notes on

a) you cannot move around in the document so if you type on the third line and you want to add something to the first line you can't move up. The only way to write on the first line again is to delete what you have on line 3 and line 2. Frustrating.

Also when you get near the end it won't let you type more and it buffers so I was typing in Joe Green for example, and I saw no text was coming up so then I kept trying and after around 3-4 seconds it write jjjjjoooooooooeeee etc

As the previous poster wrote, you cannot choose a location when going through the arrest procedure unless you go all the way to the end of the process and use "back" to go back to select the location on the map. A minor issue and hopefully easily fixed. It's not game breaking at all.

Anyway those nigglies aside, I am still about to jump in and buy it. I LOVE this genre and I want to support the dev. I want this dev to add more and make more. Going to buy the deluxe upgrades too.

The demo gives you the first two levels. Replayabiity won't be good either. I would have thought at LEAST randomise the name/IP addresses and locations for cases you have done but sadly no. I guess it would not make sense to randomise it because you know the "process" and where you need to go to find the information.

So there are 7 missions and 2nd Feb we should get another 6 so we should have 13 to play with.

The first demo mission took me 20 min and the second 40-50 min. Many of you may go waaay faster, I'm not too fast with these things. I like to look around a lot and try different things. :)

I think it will be a LOT of fun, the dev should fix the issues with hte notepad and perhaps also address some of the issues the rockpaper review wrote.

I still like it and although I know when I complete it, that's it as replayability will be quite low, I don't think the price is too bad and as I said I LOVE the genre and I'd very much like to support the dev,,,,

So for me........and I am about to buy it now.

Devs, please keep adding cases and squashing bugs.

In theory, this should be right up my alley. A 'Message' game criticizing the surveiliance society. Yay!

But i'm kinda irritated that the player get the role of the people behind the surveliance. Getting into their shoes, playing their role, means that the player, on some level, empathies with them. When the player "make the tough call", they get into their ethics, trying to justify it.

(Not that I usually mind playing a baddie. I love playing a thief or a hired gun. But with those roles already being illegal, and everybody agreeing that they should be, I don't mind emphatizing a bit with them.)

Cheers for the demo; i'll try it sometime during the weekend. :) I wonder if i have to disable my browser addons, in order to be able to download it. You know, captchas and all... :P

looks are deceiving, this game seems to have alot going for it as far as immersion gameplay. thanks for the demo!

The trailer looks absolutely amazing! Love the art style. If the same dedication went into the rest of the game, I'm sold.

Also, yay for the demo! It's great that some developers still realise how important a promotion tool it can be when done right, and it shows that they're confident in the quality of their game. It's no secret that major publishers largely stopped releasing demos (or at least not until a while after release) because people would realise how flawed the games are.

You can never have too many games about invading other people's privacy!
