Kyn an unforgiving Viking action-RPG, is available now for Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com!

1. Be a viking. 2. Be buried alive. 3. ??? 4. Profit. That's the short version of an ancient Viking ritual designed to grant might and magical powers to the bravest Nordic warriors. Meet the Kyn, six rowdy vikings on a quest to fight off every single monster-like thing that infests their icy world. The thing about Kyn is that it's tough, real tough. It's a tactical RPG that's all about combat like you know it from Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, no frills attached. Enemies are quick and brutal, and though you have your magic - health is always in short supply, one wrong turn and you're down for the count. Active-pause? Please. While you can slow down the game briefly to catch your bearings, in this world, even time is a limited resource.

Get the game alongside it's spectacularly brutal soundtrack with the Kyn: Deluxe Edition, and bring on the awesomeness of Viking instrumentals.

In battle, death and glory - join your Kyn today, DRM-free on GOG.com!

But i am calm.
there's no need for such comments here.
But it is, i just questioned why the need for your comment, it doesn't add anything to the thread. Was just an "add me friend" situation? If so just say it, otherwise i'm the one that has to say "there's no need for such comments here" since, well, it's pointless.
If you are so bothered why even read my comment.
It's the first post, i would have to be blind to avoid reading your comment, besides, the point of a forum is reading others comments, no?

grimwerk: When I read "unforgiving" applied to games (especially platformers), I read it as "this will irritate you". I don't want to be irritated.

Still, I see it quite often. Does the term actually appeal to a lot of people, or do blurb-writers just assume it does because it is quite common?
Agreed most of the time, yet there are great unforgiving games out there, in fact some are legends of classic gaming. Jagged Alliance and Visions of the Aftermath: The Boomtown come to mind. Ok, Visions of the Aftermath is no classic, let alone a legend. Wasteland then.

Anyways, yeah, agreed.

But that's impossible, most people only come here to hate the first poster. Don't ask me why, I'm just an avatar.

astrugar710: I did not mess much with the settings. I only made it full screen and changed the res to 1080. What kind of settings are you looking for?

IronArcturus: Is there a way to manually control texture quality, anti-aliasing, or v-sync? It's always nice to have these options in PC games so they can work on older machines.
The options are: Fullscreen on/off, Resolution, Graphics Quality: Fastest, Fast, Simple, Good, Beautiful, Fantastic. Bloom on/off, Ambiant Occlusion: on/off and Anti-Aliasing on/off.

Thanks for the info! It looks like the game uses the Unity engine.
The older I get, the less I find myself wanting to bash my head against "unforgiving" games. Especially when the game description gives literally no information about the game, except to reiterate how hardcore it is. Ah well. In-game pre-order exclusive content as well, I see, not that I'm going to act like I think the ‘Legendary Fire Master Set’ will make or break anything.

I think I'll have to write this one off as "good for those who want it." Not saying that it doesn't look like a major accomplishment for a two-person team, but not for me.

What about the promised Mac version?
Im quite interested in this game, but lookin g at the store page, there are no goodies, not even a manual, is this like an Early Access release or somethng?

I find the lack of reviews disturbing.
The screenshots also all look like bullshots provided by the developer. GOG! Throw in some of your own screenshots so we can get a REAL glimpse of what the game looks like. It HAS a UI other than just an inventory window, I'm sure of it.
Just watched the stream showcase from gog with the two devs, and I must say I am impressed. I came into the stream not very interested but by the end I found the game surprisingly refreshing in this oversatuated rpg market. I liked the combat and skill trees as well, though I can see how the sheer variety of different builds could be difficult. The streamer Outstarwalker had a hard go at first but then used tactics and some thinking to start to kick butt. However what most surprised me was the two devs themselves, whose enthusiasm for their creation and sheer joy at just gaming was entertainment enough. Too often new games are buried under an avalanche of publishers, marketing hype, and lawyers. This was just two guys who put it all on the line and made something pretty cool.

I wish them the best luck, I got the game wishlisted for when I get some coins together as it looks like something I would enjoy playing. its like a streamlined rpg with the ability to slow down combat to switch around skills and make plans. interesting
Are there any female vikings in this game? (serious question) and how is the party AI. :).?
Any GOGgers bought and played this since the last up dates?. Are the quick reviews right about this game? (from months back it seems)
