I AM THE LAW!

JYDGE is now available DRM-free. Get it 60% off until February 6th, 2pm UTC.

Prosecution is passé, execution is the future of police work! Outfit your cybernetic JYDGE with cool murder toys that fit your playstyle, storm the baddies of Edenbyrg and show them crime doesn't pay; it limps. Extravagant top-down shooting, shared-screen co-op, lots of criminals with an overwhelming sense of dread.
I'm almost at the final chapter (will explain later why "almost"). Game is extremely enjoyable, and almost all "sub-missions", with existing upgrades for Jydge and weapon, are reasonable, even if sometimes very challenging (I would complaing a bit only for some missions with time limit - it's so tight that it's not leaving place for mistake or doubts). Variety of add-ons for judge and his weapon (plus modifications of main firemode) are impressive, probably one of the best aspects of Jydge.

Gameplay style is really fun - it's something between simple top-down shooter, like Alien Shooter series, and game like Hotline Miami. Jydging between those two factors, I would say that it has more "action" part than sneaky/tactical approach (highly depends on type of mission/sub-missions you currently have), in effect it's less demanding game than Hotline Miami, but it's not the "brainless" type either.

The fact that we're getting back to finished missions with higher difficulty tiers and new set of sub-missions is not bothering me, since it's giving more variety, more cash and more opportunities for grabbing more "yellow squares". But...

... unfortunately, at the end of the game, "backtracking" (for higher tiers of difficulty on already passed missions) is necessary. First you're usually way ahead of requirements (especially if you're willing to finish all sub-missions), but closer to the finish, more you need to "grind" on already passed levels on higher difficulty tiers. So at this moment I've passed to last chapter, seen the introduction into it, but I still need one more "yellow square" to pass... And after that, even with finishing all sub-missions, I'll need to get another 7 "yellow squares" to pass to next mission... And up to the final one.

It may sound like a nitpicking, but it gave me impression that game intentionally "slowed me down" before finishing the "main story". To be honest, in such games I like to spend a bit more time on various "sub-activites" to beef up my character before final mission/fight, but I'd rather prefer at this moment (where I currently am) to go up to the final fight, pass it and then get back to higher difficulty tiers (those which are left).

I'm not taking back what I've written at the beginning, it's a good game, definitelly worth to try at the current price. Just better be aware about this one thing I've mentioned. If it's not bothering you at all - take it. If it bothers you... Ah, take it as well, it's still too good to be missed :)
