And the Universe star(e)s back at you

J.U.L.I.A. Among the Stars, a narrative-driven sci-fi adventure game about unlocking the mysteries of a foreign solar system, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Linux, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 50% launch discount.

It is the most carefully-laid plans that usually go awry in the most catastrophic manner. Top astrobiologist Rachel Manners wakes up from a decades-long cryogenic sleep inside a massive space probe, fully equipped and meticulously designed to carry out a recon mission on a solar system similar to our own. The rest of the crew is gone, the space ship is heavily damaged, and Rachel has no idea where in the universe she is. But perhaps J.U.L.I.A., the ship's A.I., does.

Rachel sets out to explore six exotic planets, accompanied by the hulking MOBOT, a reconnaissance robot that was built specifically for this mission. She must solve dozens of puzzles, overcome the obstacles of the unfamiliar terrain, and gather clues, in order to learn the reasons behind the mission's apparent failure and her crew's demise. How come she is the only one who survived? Did the mysterious signal that got them here have anything to do with all this? And how long will she manage to put up with J.U.L.I.A.'s shenanigans?

Join a lonely astronaut, a huge robot, and a temperamental A.I. as they venture in J.U.L.I.A. Among the Stars, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% launch discount will last until April 13, 1:59 PM UTC.

Matruchus: Yes, should be fine. It just a point and click game - aka one picture/ per room where you click and talk to your AI and solve puzzles, etc.
Can't be sure nowadays....I saw games where requirements for VRAM tripled the size of game installer and gfx looked like on Amiga :-P

Confirmed, I got mine early this morning. Off to redeem it.

Thank you CBE Software and Jan!
Why is the Mac version not available here? Steam is selling the game for Mac, so it obviously exists.

GOG probably won't tell you. Ask the developers.

MIK0: Generally yes but there are more than one case were that didn't happen. Sometimes that was explained as being GOG fault or their policy (up until recently they only gave GOG codes for games that was not released elsewhere). However, not that it is proved that it is fairly simple to get those keys and that they cost noting, there are still recent case of developers that didn't bother to provide that option to their backers. Lately it was Hyper Light Driter, where the game release wasn't handled in a good way at the expense of the backers. And no GOG code.
I've pretty much stopped backing games on KS due to too many of them being mishandled (or just plain dropped) by their devs. Nowadays I usually only back one if the devs are already established in the field. Which really defeats the point of KS, but they only have themselves to blame at this point.

In the backers update link MIK0 posted here, it says the following:
As not everything is shiny, we are unable to deploy OSX version on GOG due to a fact that GOG forced us to create a new version of the engine and I am no longer able to compile OSX version of WME thanks to some internal changes in OSX and XCODE itself.

This was part of the reasons I stopped backing games.

Yes, good devs indeed!
And MKO spared me the embarrassment of contacting Jan to ask when he had already planned everything out. :-)

Thanks for the info. Looks like there won't be Mac support any time soon, if ever. At least my wallet will be happy about that.

Well, I kind of esitating myself for the same reasons. And unfortunately, when devs change their mind (or liberally interprete their promises) it's not easy to get things fixed. Crowdfunding is about trust and goodwill during the whole process (fundrising, developement, delivery). And being established in the field doesn't actually mean being more honest during a campaign.
Anyway there are still developers that do things right so it's hard to refrain from contributing due to past negative experience when you might actually miss the opportunity to help someone worth of its chance.

Yeah, they have done a really great job during the whole campaign, engaging their backers in every aspect of the gam so that they weren't left out and really going out of their way to delivery what was promised (and more). It's really great that such a game was developed.
And this is also the project the kind of made CBE back on its feet. As many of you could remember they were one of the developer involved in the Lace Mamba case: they never got paid for the old version of JULIA.
