I can still hear you saying / you would never break the chain.

Inner Chains, a captivating horror FPS set in a sinister biomechanical world with deadly flora and fauna, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

On a planet where nature has formed twisted, symbiotic bonds with machines developed millennia ago, you must make your escape and challenge the oppressive Ruling Caste. The 10% discount lasts until May 25, 4 PM UTC.

Embrace the darkness of the trailer.

You're looking at "popular" on front page. That isn't the list of best sellers. On best sellers, you'll find Inner Chains near the end.

The criteria for inclusion on "popular" could very well be arbitrary. It looks like a some weighted combination of new releases, wither 3, and whatever's on sale now, as well as some others that might or might not have been making lots of sales in the recent past. Heck it could just take store page views or "buzz" into account.

Thanks for the reply .
Saw a Worth a buy playthrough, Mac didn't seem all that impressed with the AI.
I may actually be able to play this one, it doesnt look scary to me, just grotesque. wishlisted
what? "popular" is not best selling? color me even more disillusioned about gog than before.
that "bestselling" filter also seems like bullshit btw. just look at page 1.. these are the best sellers? i don't think so.

It's hard to tell what their algorithms (or meatbags) consider for sorting, and I feel like there are a few titles that might not belong on the first page of best sellers. Trying to boost visibility for random titles? But overall it looks about right -- most of these games are well known classics that have been on GOG for a long time, and have been discounted (and even given away) a ridiculous number of times. So, it is quite possible that these are the game that have made the most sales on GOG.

Talking about these? What's so far-fetched about that? (It's been stated in the past that those are long-term bestsellers, covering the last year or so.)

The "Popular" tab is much more short-term than the catalogue's "Bestselling" filter. It updates multiple times a day at least, if not at every page load.
I also suspect the "Popular" tab on the front page may take things other than sales into account -- possibly things like product page views and/or actions on that page (such as ratings and reviews), maybe even how many times a title is added to someone's shopping cart.
Others believe that the gross amount of money earned is a factor. This would be a really stupid metric to use to track "popularity" on a public-facing list, but this is GOG we're talking about, so it's quite possible.

There are also a lot that have been bundled to hell and back. There's at least two of the Dungeons & Dragons games that probably wouldn't be on the first page of that list if not for having been included in that old 80% off D&D bundle that used to pop up two or three times every year, for example. People looove them some bundles.

Yes.. Neverwinter Nights and such. OK, is there an actual "bestselling" list on here even? I define it by "pieces / second at the moment" (not in forever). Don't ask me about the statistical function though, I only know there is one. Music charts use it and it's actually what people expect I guess. Who wants to see a perpetual entry of "new order - blue monday" lol
