I have to apologize, I shouldn't have suggested that any person doesn't belong on GOG. Anyone should be welcome here whether they like the old games or old style of games or not.

I just found it a little odd considering this site's history, and what it is known for. And there are plenty of games with modern graphics to choose from anyways. Choice isn't a bad thing, right?

I have to admit, until a few years ago I was not in the mood for pixel art graphics either, and I grew up with them. So It is understandable if someone younger who did not grow with playing these old games is not used to this style either.

But I think people appreciate pixel art now more than ever before. I don't think people cared for it 20 or 30 years ago. It was just necessity. But now I think people actually embrace.

Like for me personally it wasn't until I played 3D games for many years that I started to appreciate the 2D graphics more. So now when I see screenshots of Hyper Lighter Drifter it is instant add to wishlist for me.

Dirtbox: Good Old Games it is called though :]
Not since March 30, 2012. It used to be called Good Old Games, it's now called GOG. See here.
Well to put this one element to rest, Straight from the horses mouth.
"I'm sorry, we cannot distribute keys through GOG as an alternative to Humble Bundle; Humble Bundle is our distribution partner, and GOG was an add-on late in the process for other platforms. Thanks for your understanding!"
There it is. A very disappointing result. Feels like more of the "second class gaming citizen" that even today still keeps happening, but at least there was some sort of DRM free option, even if it was an inferior option. Really thought we were starting to get past all this, but again at least there is some option, which a bad option is still better than none at all, especially with what is clearly a good game and the developers labor of love.

Well, that's too bad.
Can I ask where you found this quote? Did they answer you directly?

Yes, direct emailed response from Heart Machine.
Similarly no luck on my side. I messaged them through the BackerKit support channel about swapping our Steam keys for GOG keys, and eventually received the message:

"Thanks for your patience while we looked into this. Unfortunately, the project team let us know that they will not be able to release the game via GOG; so sorry for any inconvenience there."

*sigh* Ah well, I guess that's that. Us backers still got the game, and as long as they keep the Humble build up-to-date we're not likely to suffer from anything more than some additional library fragmentation.
