The true scale of a world war.

Hearts of Iron, a World War II grand strategy game, is now available on Windows on GOG.com!

Hearts of Iron was Paradox Interactive's first venture into deeper, more focused, grand strategy experiences after the immense success of Europa Universalis. The primary focus here is warfare and survival on a global scale, World War II is imminent and you're going to play the role of one of the many European nations entangled in the merciless conflict. Whether you're out to dominate, survive, or prepare for the war, will depend on the nation and scenario you choose - and how well you micromanage global politics, resources, population and large-scale warfare. Hearts of Iron is heavily rooted in the authentic events of the period, although much will depend on just how you lead your nation.

You'll ensure the fascist, democratic, or communist future a new Europe in Hearts of Iron on GOG.com!
I will definitely get this game at one point but not at nearly 100% higher price then on gamersgate. Sorry gog. So on the wishlist it goes.

Good point. I wonder why it's nearly twice the price here. Though you could have been more tactful and written o̶n̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶r̶s̶g̶a̶t̶e̶ the competition.
This is the internet, if he writes the competition, someone will inevitably ask where...

That said Have patience for a sale and do not turn to the GG side.
I seem to recall PC Gamer giving this a spectacular review back in the day. I never did buy it, but I was always very curious. I'll have to pick it up once it goes on sale.
Don't know about HoI but I live for the day Crusader Kings II gets released here with all the expansions... ;)
Great to see another classic war game here on gog - would love to see more. However, as has been commented earlier, the full price is currently too high and so onto the wishlist it goes.

It's also 10 bucks on Direct2Drive and Desura, so I guess it's either favoritism or Glitchgate. Take your pick.

Hope you have some good cash on you, as the collection is currently €140+ and it doesn't even include the recently released DLCs.

To be honest, when I wrote this, I had in mind only the base game plus the expansions, not the DLCs. And I'm not supposed to buy them all together, right? Plus I guess there will be quite a large launch discount as always. If you look at Steam right now you'll see a -75% so I suppose here on GOG will be a -50%.

Anyway, right now I have the base game on Steam (I won it in a great GA sometime ago) and while I would like to buy the main expansions for it, I have a hope (especially after today's releases) that we'll see it here someday so I keep my money for now. ;)

It's still about €36 with the typical 75% discount, which isn't a small amount of money for a game. Still, if you go only for the meatier DLCs (not portaits, units and whatsoever), you can cut down some of the moolah.

Exactly! :) Even 36 € is not *that* expensive for so much content (= many hours of entertainment), especially when it is DRM Free!
Tbh although HoI1 is a good game, I don't think it's worth playing when you've got games like Darkest Hour and Arsenal of Democracy which are essentially the same game but hugely improved

And you can get either of those for the price of HoI here.
