A Hard Hard West

Hard West, a brutal Wild West tactical RPG, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for Achievements and a 20% launch discount. Coming soon to Mac and Linux!

The Hard West is a dangerous West, a weird West - a world of supernatural forces clashing with human greed, remains and traces of black pacts haunting the dusty roads and saloons. Hard West is hard. In true spirit of a wild, wild west - it's a game that seems to get satisfaction from making sure you never, ever, feel safe and secure. A bullet is a bullet, and folks aren't made out of sponge. They do, however, have an arsenal of tricks and abilities at their disposal - that, and a healthy dose of luck. Your tactical options will include dynamic, improvised cover, ricochets, and using shadows (not just yours) for every advantage you can get.

Hard West is a game that focuses on offering plenty of depth and unfamiliar twists on your favorite kind of squad-based, tactical gameplay.

You can also grab the full Hard West - Digital Collector's Edition, which includes a Digital Artbook, Original Digital Comic Book, and the Full Original Digital Soundtrack or pick up the Hard West - Collector's Pack with all the content later.

Hard West is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The launch discount will last for one week, until Wednesday, November 25, 4:59 PM GMT.

Hard West is currently compatible exclusively with 64-bit versions of Windows. 32-bit support will be added in the near future.

hummer010: What exactly does "coming soon to Mac and Linux" mean?

I was under the impression that this was a day one release on all platforms.

BPitch: I am wondering too when the Mac & Linux versions will be released
Should be today if everything goes according to plan :)
avatar
Senjinone: Why cant i install?
I have windows 64-bits and it says Not compatible?
This is fixed now :) Sorry about the wait!

And now the Linux version is live :)

F4LL0UT: Sadly I bring some disturbing news. It now seems clear that some people received an incorrect pc64 version from GOG. If your build is 151116_1101_release, it is *not* the 'gold master' version but rather a build delivered earlier for testing purposes. The pc32 and other systems' versions are correct.
The correct GOG version number is 151118_1413_release for all platforms.

We're very sorry for that, we're already getting in touch with GOG to point that out and solve it quickly. Due to their office hours, that'll most likely be tomorrow morning UK time. We're now brainstorming a way to ensure we can save as much progress/save games as possible and will let you know the details before the update.

Hunter65536: Will we get a patch or will the entire thing need downloading again? (I kind of downloaded both Linux and Windows installers, and exhausted my network bandwidth so speed throttling has begun)
Will it have save game incompatibilities?
If you're using the Linux version, you won't need to update that version :) As for the Windows version, we're working on that right now :)

Hunter65536: Thanks for the quick reply Judas! Went ahead and installed it in Linux but it keeps crashing upon opening. If I run the start.sh in terminal everything seems fine but game crashes immediately. I went to the .config/unity3d/CreativeForge Games S.A./Hard West folder and in the log there's an error saying that my GPU doesn't support opengl 2.0, I am really sorry about giving you trouble about something like this but how can I check if there really are no drivers for my GPU which support opengl 2.0?

I have AMD dual graphics, 7660G+7670M and I'm new to Linux.
Dual graphics? Is this anything like the Nvidia+Intel combos? Could I ask for the full specs of your laptop? You can message me in private if you don't wish to share your specs in public :)

Can you force the game to use the 7760M side of your card? According to this Wikipedia link the Radeon HD 7670M uses OpenGL 4.4, please check and make sure that is the card that the game uses and not the card that does not support OpenGL 2.0 or higher :)
