Dressed to kill.

The Loyalist Upgrade DLC, a delectable collection of vanity items to give your Grim Dawn characters that crucial bit of extra flair, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 15% launch discount.

When you're a mean, lean, constantly seen killing machine, there's nothing more important than looking amazing - covered in blood or otherwise. Rest assured: these items will definitely keep you in vogue with their timeless appeal and killer style. So don George Washington's wig and teach your enemies some manners. Perhaps you prefer the more unwholesome pirate look? In that case, the Swashbuckler's Coat and the Admiral's Hat might be more to your tastes. To further undermine your otherwise fearsome disposition, make sure to try some of the Enchanted Burrwitch Brew that will give you all the glorious disadvantages of a bad hangover and none of the questionable social skills. But at least make sure to bring a Will-O'-The-Wisp along, to help you see in the dark and find your way back home. Or around the next dungeon.

Level up your Grim Dawn character's fashion sense with the fun selection of cosmetic items found inside the Loyalist Upgrade DLC, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 15% discount will last until December 29, 5:59 PM UTC.
Ouch, that price point hurt

A couple of hundred polygons, and a few hundred kBs of textures, for almost $10. Sure, got it! This is just a tiny bit ridiculous, no matter how much the tier upgrade to get them during the crowdfunding was. Crowdfunding is at least 50% about simply financing the development anyway, with any extra perks just as little gifts to thank the supporters.

But now that the game is finished and released? It's a different story. It's just a donation, nothing else. If it was about supporting the studio and enabling them to create more games in the future, they should launch another crowdfunding, with a concrete project that they're working on.

This takes an experienced 3D artist and texture artist maybe one day to create? For around this price, others offer full add-ons where writers created new plotlines, teams created entirely new environments, actors recorded new voice-overs…

Just my two cents.

Lucumo: Not even for that amount though. Supporting such practices is a clear no-no from me.

/edit: Meh, stupid settings bugging out again.

IwubCheeze: There's nothing inherently wrong with DLC though. DLC is a good way to add content for an existing game without the problems that come with devs and consumers waiting for a sequel. When DLCs add new characters, new areas to explore, new items to use etc, they can still have good value. Notice how I said CAN and not WILL because we all know some DLC is utter shite.

In this case, the game page is very clear what's in the DLC. These cosmetic items are not required for the original game and don't affect the original game in anyway so Crate isn't doing anything wrong here. Like others have said, the only problem here is the price.
You're correct, nothing wrong with DLC, but this is still a no, and won't be until it's much cheaper.
This just doesn't tick any boxes, shame as another character etc would of been welcomed.

godunow: I don't see a problem here.

It is purely cosmetic DLC for Loyal fans who wish to contribute to studio they like.

MuHa Games has DLC for Thea the Awakeng titled "Coffee for Developers" - it is the same thing here - you want to give an extra "tip", you can do it. If you don't, nobody's forcing you. It's not like you're missing anything.

But, if you decide that this game is not worth your support (as I do for now - it is on my account but I haven't played it yet), don't run around telling devs are greedy bastards.

Don't be that guy. Please.
Good for you that you don't have a problem, others do and have voiced so.
Well obviously i'm not a loyal supporter then, i don't think it's worth the asking price, simple.
Here's a thought, i did contribute to them, by buying several copies of the base game as gifts.
As for the Thea thing i don't see anything extra for the game, lost me.

Don't decide who's loyal and who isn't, don't be that guy.

Dawn_: More than doing those kind of operation. i'd rather wish they fix their game. It's buggy as hell even now.
The DLC doesn't bother me (as a backer i don't have an issue with people getting exclusive stuff later at smaller price backing means funding a game not being a customer but an investor with a marge of risk), the pricing neither. But doing it when your game is in this state. I kind of feel like they're taking people for huge dove.
We just released a hotfix for version 1.0.0.7, can you check if it helps any?

Does it resolves the whole..i got the game who keeps crashing in loading screen? I honestly stopped playing the game. Because while i was at near game completion (with the game crashing at each session one can understand how much i liked the game to go so far under those circumstances) i really couldn't bear it anymore. It forced me to reset my computer each time i was playing.

I'll give it a go but if it crashs even once..i'll erase it from my computer and memory.

"Enchanted Burrwitch Brew that never runs dry. Far from granting an unfair advantage, this vile brew is certain to dull your combat abilities and may induce vomiting."

Then what's the point of having it if it gimps your combat prowess?

Better to just not have it at all; then again, I'm the type of gamer that gets pissed off when I start having my ass handed to me while hoarding unspent skill-points for over half the game!...I'll get this DLC when the eventual 75-80% sale kicks in!

Some of us have a sadistic tendency to our gaming ;)
Hence DAIL exists \o/
I guess the name of the dlc is more towards themself and it stands for their bonus.
Greediness must not be supported. .
At this rate the same thing will happen again and another studio closes, just as with iron lore. Old habits die hard it seems.

Dev are greedy bastards, You don't seem to understand it. It's what they offer and in which manner. Also, MuHa Games released 2 free dlc's, while Crate ask money for everything. And you seem not to understand the purpose of the coffee for coding dlc, which is the name by the way. Next to that those dlc's aren't featured so far on GoG. You can compare this dlc more to what Capcom does with their fighting games or Koei Tecmo with Dynasty Warriors 8.

That was me in my younger years when my eyes were much better...;^) More power to ya though! I considered myself more of a power gamer rather than a hardcore one though.

Yes, the new 1.0.0.7 update with the new Port Valbury area, new roguelike dungeon, new items and new monsters just got that ridiculous greedy price of... nothing.

Yeah... Greedy devs...
So I've putchased this DLC and have zero idea how to get it from within the game. I originally thought the Illusionist will have it, but I don't see it there. You'd think they'd give us instructions on what to do after buying the DLC. It is enabled within GoG as well.

Does anyone know how to claim this DLC (or use it after purchase)?

Thanks.
Can be claimed via one of the NPC/vendors in the starting town, iirc.
Talk him/her up and there should be dialogue options for each one of the items/pets.
I had trouble receiving the items too with no information on how to get them in game.
When you ally the illusion to your gear, it will be used up. You can go back to Kory the Keeper and receive the illusions again if you want to apply them to any other gear. You can do this with all of your characters through the NPC vendor in Devil's Crossing. I made this screenshot below.
