LiefLayer: Can this game be played offline without limitation? Is it true drm-free or it is like hitman?
Just so I can decide if I will put this on wishlist or not.
I don't care about telemetry... I usually play offline nowadays to avoid crap like that to work... but of course it will only work if there is no drm.
I've played two other games from Sony, HZD and Days Gone. Both games can be played offline they just ask about telemetry but they start and work offline.
I don't see why it would be different on God of War...

Mafwek: God of War series mess up ancient Myths just by existing - Olympians, Titans and Protogenoi can't be killed, period. Kratos does it from day one.

Cringy implementation is result of bad writing, and almost everything suffers from it these days. Larian was never good at writing.

Reaper9988: True enough, I care more for the Nordic Myth, not so much for Greek. There is a still a difference between messing it up and spitting in the face of it for the sake of it. I mean the switch isn't even in line with itself.

The most cringy moments in BG3 are the "woke" ones but yeah I'm one of the few people that isn't much of a fan of BG3 as a Baldurs gate game.either way,
Bad storytelling can happen anywhere, "woke" media just seems to have a knack for it.
Maybe it's people writing these stories that have nothing to do with the intended Audience ? No clue.
I should qualify that, mostly mainstream woke media. There is some Indie games that do it pretty well. Bastard Bonds comes to mind.
Not to derail the thread even more but in defense of the so-called "wokeness" in BG3 - much of it is actually of the good "organic" sort, and not forced, lecturing or on-the-nose at all, in my opinion at least.
Also because most of it can be skipped without you even noticing that you're skipping it. And for the unskippable bits and pieces the mod community has gone to astounding lenghts, replacing character models, writing new dialogue, even putting AI to work to generate voice over for those alternate lines, that is virtually indistinguishable from the original ones done by professional voice actors.

This won't be my kind of game, but I do appreciate more AAA level games showing up over here.

How seamless can we make the replacement? I am NOT referring to wokeness here at all but as much as I generally HATE the use of AI except in terms of assistive AI(that means it truly supplements or adds or assists in a needful way, not replacing jobs) I kind of want to use it to insert someone's voice as a replacement in an upcoming game. As you know Indiana Jones the game is coming but of course Harrison Ford is sadly NOT voicing him. Instead it is a crappily done version by Nolan North, that just feels like an off imitation of Ford. Meanwhile I would like North's voiceover replaced completely by Mike McRae who can do a spot on Ford. The question is how seamless can this replacement be using AI?
Oh and regarding the writing to the previous commenter I think trash writing and that activism go hand in hand because they are too much CONSCIOUSLY putting that before the story. I watched one countries Communist films for a college class I took and the regime believed in putting the message first and foremost, not to be entertaining and it showed. Some of the films were INSUFFERABLE because of how heavy handed the messaging was. I have seen the same thing in some Christian movies in the US too. If you don't make the product truly entertaining first you won't get a second chance. That is IF you get a first chance because you use a famous property.

Anyway, I will be buying this soon enough...squee! I will also likely be playing it in a variety of languages and maybe I will even try it in German given the previous poster's comments.

Well opinions vary of course I felt it was cringy and forced in many regards. The skipping part is mostly true. But if you say skip Dame Aylin it rails you into Shadowhearts Shar side.(And especially Dame Aylin I felt is total cringe, on the other hand I felt Shadowheart was a well made character and I didn't want to rail her into Shar.)
My main gripe about the game still is that it is just not Baldurs Gate.
But yeah the community has gone out of their way to make the game be able to be played as one feels like, sadly a part of said community has gotten a lot of hate for it too.

if you refer to me as previous commenter. I generally play in english. German translations are often generally cringe :(
Exception being games made by German devs originally in german as the same usually goes for english translations lol
Das schwarze Auge (Realms of Arkania) in english is just Arghlasdasdassdfadfw

Naw someone previously talked about they wanted to play it in German as it is closest to Old Norse.

You can be the judge of that yourself (very mild spoilers ahead):

Aylin (Modded)
->
Aylin (Original unmodded)

Wouldn't play with this particular mod personally (because my favourite type of magic is Lesbomancy) but if you'd rather have Ser Aylin in a relationship with Isobel - well, there you go.

But let's leave it at that, I think it's a good point to go back on-topic again.

I don't think German is close to Old Norse, and Kratos is a Greek:D

B1tF1ghter: I don't really know what you mean. There's SEVERAL resolutions commonly referred to as 2k ( these below are just EXAMPLES, there's more ) :
1920 x 1080
1920 x 1200
2048 x 1152
1440p ( I personally wouldn't call this 2k ).
It's best to just give exact pixel dimensions :P
1440p is short for 2560 by 1440 the reason it's called 2k is because of the 2560 that's over two thousands lines across.

Maybe they got it confused with proto-germanic?

but that is still not German language... nor old Norse....but closer to old Norse than German

1440p (2560 x 1440) is often referred to as 2K, even if it's technically really 2.5K.
