Action adventure games sound like your cup of tea? We have something great then: Girl Genius - Adventures In Castle Heterodyne is now available on GOG, with a -10% launch discount until September 12th, 4 PM UTC!

Step into the shoes of Agatha Heterodyne as she embarks on her adventure within the treacherous corridors, underground catacombs, and bustling kitchens of her ancestral residence, Castle Heterodyne. As the rightful but long-lost heir of a rather eccentric family, Agatha faces the formidable task of restoring the ancient fortress to its former grandeur and claiming her birthright as a True Heterodyne; only then can she muster the strength to confront Wulfenbach Empire and various power-hungry rivals. However, her journey begins with tackling the challenges of a corrupted and deranged AI that controls the castle, navigating its perilous booby traps, and avoiding seemingly bottomless pits of doom.

Now on GOG!

That is some thoroughly unappealing art.

I loved it... It has a retro feel to it and the mechanics and gameplay look very entertaining.
On the wishlist.
Thanks, GOG =)
Oh good! Backers had been told GOG keys might not be available until after the Steam launch, but all's well after all.
Meanwhile, the Linux version of World to the West on GOG is still outdated. Sorry not gonna buy a new title from same developer until the old one is properly supported.

For those who may not be aware (the GOG announcement doesn't mention it at all), this game is based on the long-running webcomic Girl Genius, by Phil and Kaja Foglio. It takes place in a steampunk / "gaslamp fantasy" setting where mad scientists have effectively destroyed the world. The comic has won multiple Hugo Awards and has been online for about 20 years.

Personally, I'm a fan (the setting is a lot of fun, and there's some pretty deep lore), but the comic definitely has pacing problems; it's one of those slow-burn series where you can just walk away from it and then come back in a few years to see if anything has happened yet.

EDIT: Also has a wiki, for those interested in learning more.

It sure would be nice if they'd used proper lettering. You know, mixed case that greatly improved readability.

Do you mean the dialog boxes? Their font is the same as what is used in the comic itself (as far as I can tell). True, the font does not have larger letters for capitals, but that's how it is in a lot of comics, for example recent Batman comics are the same way. I suppose the idea is that the individual dialog balloons are small enough that they don't contain multi-sentence paragraphs, so they already separate the different sentences.

Just because comics did it in the past and others do it by convention doesn't excuse it being bad lettering. Plenty of others have improved and switched to mixed case, much to their being better. But especially in a video game where you're reading at length on a screen, you need to do everything you can to improve it.

It's one of the reasons comics are all but inaccessibile to me. I literally cannot read them without extreme effort.

While I agree with your statement in general, it's been done like this for so long now, that it really doesn't warrant a high blood pressure, anymore.
If this was a new thing right now (instead ofsomething that exists for years already) - I would be with you.
But by now, it's so old, it counts as tradition - and one gets used to it.
;o)

For the game, I imagine this might be an optional/moddable choice of font, maybe ask the developers if they could add mixed-case as an option?

Well it's an artistic choice, but for a game maybe they can add different Fonts as an accessibility option.
Would probably depend on how wanted that is.

Different publisher. I guess Modus Games don't want to sell their stuff on GOG anymore. :(
The game does in fact have an 'accessible text box font' option.
