Removing the criminal element.

Freedom Force Pack, that contains two strategy/RPGs bursting with uncontainable super-powers, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com with a 66% launch discount. Buying each game individually grants you a 50% discount, instead.

Oh, the alien scum really did it this time. They've bathed Earth's scum in a powerful catalyst known only as Energy X and now a whole legion of super-powered troublemakers is wreaking havoc across our fair planet. There is only one logical course of action in order to contain the situation: gather a Freedom Force of similarly powered heroes and set out to kick the criminals' spandex-ed behinds.

You will have the option to either create your own superhero or choose one of the available ones before you join Freedom Force in their globetrotting effort to bring justice upon the beefed-up evil-doers. Most of the spectacular butt-kicking will take place in the colourful streets of Patriot City but the heroes will eventually have to unleash their unique powers in other dimensions and time periods. Especially when someone disturbs the space-time continuum, leading to the historically inaccurate victory of the Axis forces during World War II. But don't go fixing those history books just yet, unless it is to include a chapter chronicling the epic campaign known as Freedom Force vs The Third Reich.

Pick your comic book-inspired superhero and smack some sense into those overpowered villains with the Freedom Force Pack, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 66% bundle discount and the 50% individual discounts will last until April 5, 13:59 BST / 5:59 AM PDT / 8:59 AM EDT.

omega64: Are these any good?
I only played the demo when it came out, but if I recall correctly, you're basically a comic book character that fights Nazi's (and maybe Commies?). What's not to like?

I think you can even build characters. Having said that, if turn based strategy isn't for you, then you won't like it.

tinyE: Since when can you hit civies?
avatar
Matewis: I played the demo 10 or more years ago. All I remember was taking down lamp posts and hitting people with it. I think they were random pedestrians?

But perhaps I am remembering it wrong. Perhaps they were baddies after all :P
No, you remember correct. Causing harm to NPCs affects your score though, making it harder to level up your characters. So you don't really want to just rip up a lamp post (or pick up a car) and start flailing about. There are plenty of baddies to take out your aggressions on, and in some levels some civilians may not be who they seem to be.
Nice, any advantages over the Steam copy? As in, does it run properly?

cogadh: I'd like to hear a first hand account of the first one actually working. The game has been pretty much non functional for years on Steam (game launches, but none of the controls actually work).
avatar
BoBFiSh: I can't confirm the first game working but I have the second from when GOG first had it released on here, that always ran fine for me and I never had any problems with the controls at all.
Both games run flawlessly under Wine, so run well on modern operating systems that matter. :-)

* I'm playing through my original copy of FF1 from retail CD on Ubuntu under Wine right now. I'm assuming the GOG version will run as well.
For any interested there is a mod community over at www.freedomreborn.net

They branched out into a general super hero focused community but the Freedom Force section has always been solid and is still active today.

timppu: Bought, I had the second game already, fortunately it was still counted as owned to get the full discount for the first game (didn't the second game disappear from GOG earlier?).
Yeah, it left at the same time as the Nordic games (and Frictional) but the others had already come back.
I am glad they finally got Freedom Force, I will be sure to be buy it.
GOG any chance of getting the Bonus Character Disc as an extra here?

GOG got the game running properly, fixing the sound issues as well as the closed fist/path finding bug. I just checked it myself.

Sweet. I know there was a fix for the Steam one but I got fed up with trying to install it. It hates my HDD for some reason haha.
Really awesome job.The games got the best treatment possible :D, and working like a charm on my Win 10 64bit.Thank you GOG and 2K for bringing these nice games here, Keep em coming xD. Cheers.
<---- Would be kinda weird if I didn't pay this thread a visit.

Freedom Force is a special series from the acclaimed studio Irrational Games. Collect a squad of superheroes, take them through a huge single-player campaign, upgrade their powers, and have them kick butt by issuing orders between space-bar pauses. They deliver cheesy quips, their costumes look like they were made in a garage, and the villains are moustache twirling cartoons. I love these games. The character origins are my favourite in-game clips to watch along with Max Payne’s graphic novel.
