Very misleading that, as it makes it sound like you don't need the game yet to get the freebie pack.

I guess it is too hard to say that the game is required to get the freebie pack, which it is.

Yeh I see ur point, tho when I read it: it is FREE DLC for EU4.
On Gog: to claim ANY DLC u have to own that base game.
But I agree it is misleading to those unfamiliar with gog DLC workings

Very easy, just add DLC to the title of the thread.

Worst discount in % terms since 2017 though. Paradox really are greedy if they want to gouge with DLC and with the base game too.
Okay, let me explain how it works: You get a free DLC if you order a game, and you can play that game on its "full glory" with about 60+ other DLCs... just to get it right.

How it truly works: Hand out the base game with the 10 most expensive DLCs for free... and let the customers chose to buy the other DLCs left.

Paradox did this for CK2 and it worked well for them, so well that they rode the popularity and are now cashing in (cashing out might be more accurate) with CK3.

Not as sure about EU4 to be honest, but it is an old game like CK2, with a lot more DLC, so the effective price rise in the base game is baffling to me.
Well, they do it because it works so well... so it is somewhat hard to blame them. I mean, you can have a high moral, yet... if it does not work out for your needs it is kinda "self sacrificing"... which makes even less sense. So they apparently chose to go the bad path of a rather dark moral, yet... they seem to get what they need.

I just wish that a really kind moral-attitude may work out great, but this is not always the case on many examples i could hand out.

The "average" human does not care about DRM or any other sort of "kind attitude", they are vulnerable to manipulation and they are "hunters" on their genes... this is the spec Paradox seems to "abuse".

Alhough, still kind of them providing DRM free... somewhere they still got a "soft spot". I only wish they would support the other versions (not Steam) even better... so there is lesser bugs and glitches.

Generally that is the case, but hasn't always been so for every single one.

Anyway, it is all about the type of promotion and the way they make it sound. The way it has been done this time is misleading, so much so that I wasted my time checking it just to be sure.

Indeed.

Release: Europa Universalis IV: 10th Anniversary Community Music Pack DLC for free!

Then it doesn't look like it might be one of those regular free goodie packs, especially when they make the same kind of big deal about it..

I, too, was under the impression this was another Goodie Pack available to any who wanted the music and not a DLC. No big deal, really, but a bit misleading.

Perhaps the writer was looking at that other gaming platform where you actually can grab the music for free because you also can grab the base game for free. ;P
