Is this game created to milk money from the most fanatical fandoms in the world? First they aim at the furries. Then they want weebs. What next? Breaking Bad? Disney?

Depends on how long "a while ago" was. They did expand the tutorial a lot from when I first started, but it can still feel pretty overwhelming. When you tried it, were the controls on the interface labelled with little "handwritten" notes? (like the "W" one Atlo mentioned). If not, then you played before that improvement.

In general terms, your purpose in the game is mostly up to yourself, and not something which the tutorial touches upon. There are quest-equivalents which you'll acquire organically (mostly through in-game conversations with your crew), but it can take several dives before you'll really develop direction there. I can easily understand feeling a bit lost in the initial phase of the game, but would recommend just focusing on acquiring funds to upgrade your ship and experimenting to figure out which flying/mining style suits you.

Looks like they put the character portraits through an Anime AI generator and slapped a 5 dollar price tag and called it the weeb edition... That is something.

Funnily enough, I didn't really look into the game until the first DLC, mainly because the game wasn't on my radar when it first showed up on GOG. Tried the demo, really liked it, and promptly bought the game.

That said, I did buy that DLC too. Now I have a pretend-alternate Star Fox universe without the action stars. ;) Not really interested in this new one. *shrug*

Yes. It's an optional "support the devs" thing. As I quoted above, the devs themselves tell you not to buy it if it doesn't interest you.

They are not separate from the game, they are character portraits in the game, and games as a whole could be described as absolutely unnecessary, just silly fluff for people who like that. Visual variety can be nice in a game even if you aren't super into whatever the theme is. If you buy an early access game you should receive the full game unless exceptions are disclosed in advance. Unfortunately, GOG and certain developers don't agree. And discounting the game (while still early access) such that people who didn't previously purchase the game get the game + DLC for the previous cost of the game just adds insult to injury. I don't agree that developers who do this BS are worth supporting.

It might sound like that from the description but it is just an artbook, not something that helps with the game. It is a fictional user manual for one of the ships in the game. Also that DLC is free, maybe it is a DLC just so that if you want you can move it somewhere else and not download it again (the soundtrack as well isn't (just) an extra but a DLC that contains the actual soundtrack; it looks like the artbook should also be an extra but currently isn't, there is a section but no download except as a DLC).

They are separate from the game, in that they do not affect gameplay. You are REALLY trying desperately to find something to be offended by, which is just sad. Once again, the developers themselves tell you not to buy the (purely cosmetic) DLC if it's not something you want. Just because DLC is available, does not mean you have to get it or that the game is "incomplete" without it. Look up "optional" in the dictionary if you're having difficulty understanding it. You do receive the full game. If you're talking about getting free DLC, no. You're not owed anything, so I'd suggest keeping your sense of entitlement in check. Buying early access means you're essentially paying to be a beta tester, which is made clear up front. If you don't want to be a beta tester (which is understandable), then simply do not buy the game until it's out of early access.

I just realized that the person you're replying to is the same user who went into this argument with the developers about the furry DLC - even after the devs said that that entire DLC started out as an april's fools joke which some people wanted to be real. I don't think anything we can say will ever change their attitude about this.
