A Point & Click Hugventure.

Remember how adventure games used to be super-weird back in the day? Welll... Here's Dropsy, available on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux -- DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% discount.

Dropsy used to be a beloved circus clown, bringing joy to his little town alongside his Ma' and Pop. His unfortunate appearance and inability to communicate obscured by the happiness, spirit of joy, and entertainment he brought upon the world - but when a fire causes Dropsy to lose his mother, his livelihood, and the life he's always known - he's left getting-by in a decrepit circus-tent, caring for his sickly father. Still, unfazed, Dropsy does what he can to share his positive outlook on life with everyone. Literally everyone..
Dropsy's objective is to... hug. Hug 'em all. But when you're a hulking, scary-looking clown, people can take a while to warm up to the idea - they also run super fast. But there's a chance: the folk you encounter around town will all have a very particular need, communicated through visual thought bubbles that breach all language barriers. You'll traverse the city looking for the right solution, never obscure or too confounding, and win the hearts and love of the people. Dropsy's classic art style, playful music and love-filled message provide a stark contrast to his face. His awful, awful face.

The Dropsy: Warm Damp Hug is coming for you as well! A package full of hugs, and music - including the OST and Eternal Hug EP by Jay Tholen, in both FLAC and MP3 - and Dropsy's Book of Secrets. All at the same 10% discount.

Clown around in Dropsy, DRM-free on GOG.com. The launch discount will last for one week, until Thursday, September 17.

Stream watch:

Want to see the creepy clown live? MegapiemanPHD will be playing it live on our channel. Tune in to Twitch.tv/GOGcom tomorrow (Friday, September 11th) starting at 4pm GMT (or 6pm CESt, 12pm EDT, and 9am PDT in some other time zones)!
The text-free approach sound interesting. On the other hand, the art style kind of gives me headache...

Luned: "Edema" was already taken as a game name? Because that's what dropsy means.

(The game may be fine, but that name is awful for the kind of game it seems to actually be.)
it's the perfect name for the game and the clown. Look at the animations and you'll see why. The animations in the game are spot on, and always make me giggle a little. Jay Tholen has done a masterful job with this game.
lol@ everybody who just bought the vanilla version when the Deluxe version is the same price and there's no upgrade purchasable.

Thanks GOG.

CharlesGrey: The pixel art is well done, but creepy fat clowns are pretty low on my list of preferred player characters.

The idea of "hugging total strangers" doesn't help to make things any less creepy. :P
watch a few minutes of gameplay footage on a lets play or something, it's charming not creepy and the animation is gorgeous.

Ummm, what you are looking at is the upgrade, not the Deluxe Edition.

Have any of the backers gotten their keys yet? In December when the surveys were sent I chose GOG key but haven't gotten anything since the beta key yet.
I... there are no words.

JudasIscariot: OK it's live now :)
Well I see the DLC but where is the complete edition which includes the game and the goodies. Are you guys going to offer the Dropsy: Warm Damp Hug Edition as well or just the upgrade DLC?

Dropsy: Warm Damp Hug Edition (base game + DLC) is $17.99 on that other digital distribution platform. For GOG, where you have to purchase the base game and DLC separately, it's currently $18.98.
I stand corrected and stunned.

I did not realize they wanted ten bucks for soundtrack and hint book only.
First thing coming to my mind, when I saw the clown's appearance, was "John Wayne Gacy". ;)

Game's idea sounds nice and interesting.
However - this description from the game's card, makes me very hesitant, to part with my money:

"Languages:
Text only: English (All languages are supported as there is no text in the game.) "

From watching the trailer and the screenies, I think, I might have a hard time guessing, what the townsfolk could want from me.

For an adventure, some textual descriptions would have been more appropriate, than some more or less abstract symbols, maybe?

Well, for me, anyway.

Tannath: I know it's supposed to be cute, but for me it's really creepy.

fronzelneekburm: No man, it's supposed to be creepy. Keep in mind that this is published by the fine folks who also brought the pigeon dating sim on gog.
Success!

acetrouble: While it hasn't shown up on the regular Humble Store page yet, people can, in fact, already pre-order it via Humble.
You're totally right! Anyway, I've looked up my response to the survey and I said I preferred a Desura key... :DDD (it was back in December 2013, what do you want, GOG wasn't supporting Linux yet!). I've just contacted the dev to ask for a GOG key instead. :P
