A truckload of otherworldly fun!

Crashlands, a cheeky, world-crafting ARPG on an alien planet rife with opportunity and potential pets, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Despite her questionable fashion sense, Flux Dabes is a trucker who takes her job very seriously and losing a package to a megalomaniac alien that looks to upset the world's order is enough to put her on the warpath. And boy, what a glorious path it is! Riddled with powerful artifacts, strange creatures that you can tame or maim, talkative NPCs, gazillions of craftable items, and intense, skill-based combat. As you grow in power and start tackling the epic quests and trucker-eating bosses, spare a moment to put all that money and materials into building your own humble stronghold - it's as easy as finger-painting! Or wiping blood off your visor.

Collect, build, and hit stuff, as you follow the trail to your lost packages and tame the colourful Crashlands, DRM-free on GOG.com. Like the upbeat music that your tracker listens to? Grab the soundtrack for some chillout fun on the road.
The 20% discount will last until August 10, 12:59 PM UTC.

Kardwill: Err, I don't understand how the reviews can't be trusted because of greenlight? Those are two separate systems, no?
Actually, "the fact many games received very bad reviews (mixed (brown) or negative (red thumbs down)
shows the Greenlight thing is somewhat flawed" (I'm quoting gamesfreak64 here) means the review system is independent and it's different people who use it.

I agree with your whole post. Now once I've decided the game might be my cup of tea I actually use the Steam review system, then wishlist/purchase here.

(There's also the game specific forums, and I find those better in GOG, but I use them more to see if there are game breaking bugs or some big no-go for me. Same with gameplay videos.)

What I haven't done since the days when I still used to buy magazines, is reading professional reviews.
Oh. Great. I thought it was out of GOG radar, that is why I made the wishlist : https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/crashlands

Someone at GOG, please mark the wishlist as "Completed" just in case you guys didn't realized there is a wishlist for the game.

I was pessimist because the vote only around 30s and... there it is ! it is released on GOG :D

Well, still wishlisted (again) the game for now though. Still need to allocate the contents of my wallet elsewhere.

liquidBass: No good, no such option available, or anything remotely suggesting anything of the like. Just the standard options.

SeduceMePlz: Anyone else having this problem? I'm considering buying, but I'll wait if there's a problem with the keys...

Also: Does the GOG version include the Crashlands Creator?
Issue is resolved now and the key is available in the drop-down :) Thanks to tremere110 for sending the support ticket.

Marioface5: I'm confused. Is the content unlocked by the Perks exclusive to that system, or no? Because you previously said:

"It's not required in any capacity to access the game's content or play the game in its entirety."

Which isn't entirely true if some content is locked behind Perks.

Matruchus: The perks do not affect the game in anyway and they are meant more as reward for other Butterscotch mobile games. So in end effect you can unlock awards for other of their games which are not on gog.com. It does not effect Crashlands at all.

Explanation about perks is here: https://www.bscotch.net/game/crashlands/
Please re-read the part of the manual I quoted.

""Each of our previous games – Quadropus Rampage, Towelfight 2, Flop Rocket, and Roid Rampage – have Perks in them that, once unlocked, will reveal secret quest chains in Crashlands that end in sweet gadgets, trinkets, and armor!"

Perks that you unlock in other Butterscotch games, according to the manual, unlock quests in Crashlands, which reward you with gadgets, trinkets, and armor. If those quests and/or rewards can only be accessed by having the perks from the other games, then yes, some content is locked behind that system.
I picked up the Android version last night (it's a bit cheaper) to see if I liked the gameplay. So far I'm impressed, the mobile version looks good on both a 4-inch phone and a 7-inch tablet. Gameplay is solid, something like a cross between an "isometric"-view Terraria and Stardew Valley, and the cloud save system worked fine to transfer from one device to another. I'll be ponying up for the PC version too.
it seems BscotchID is necessary if you're a completionist.

Achievements With Purpose

In most games "achievements" don't even warrant the name. Even worse, they have no impact on your game, so why care that you just fought off your 10,000th zombie? With BscotchID your achievements in one game ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING. They can even unlock totally new content in different Butterscotch games!!

NuffCatnip: I remember them saying those of us that want a DRM-free version are pretty much stealing from them or something like that.

Can't provide links because those threads have been deleted.
It was also the same YouTube comment that prompted me to give them a good smacking for their beliefs. I believe it is still there if you look.

And that's where I come from. I have a feeling that I'm the one responsible for this release, mainly through smacking the devs and convincing them of what DRM-free means to us and how they were wrong in their views. They came in late admittedly, but that's always better than never.

I'm glad to see my criticism of their views actually landed all of us a GOG release in the end.
Interesting read this thread. Wasn't particularly interested in this title which I hadn't heard of before, it say aRPG but it doesn't look like an aRPG. The video was the most annoying thing this year. Now to add to that its a mobile port with certain additional elements with an online requirement. Mmm, think I will pass on this.
