Dead on arrival

Corpse Party, a spooky adventure about the occult backfiring on some meddling teenagers, is now available with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and statistics, DRM-free on GOG.com.

High school is where teenager shenanigans usually reach the peak of self-endangering recklessness. And when a magic charm accidentally transfers a group of friends to the ghostly past of Heavenly Host Elementary, they've only got themselves to blame for their misfortune. But fortunately for us, we get to follow them through a series of gruesome happenings, otherworldly interactions, sinister puzzles, and gut-wrenching decisions. The story features multiple endings, as plentiful as the various iterations of this horror cult-classic which now gets its definitive PC edition, full of reworked assets and enriched story elements.

Here's your blood-stained invitation for a macabre but curiously intriguing Corpse Party, DRM-free on GOG.com. Please bring your own body parts.

omega64: I wonder if LKS is the Wii or Vita version.
The Wii version.

Yay. :D

omega64: There are 3 other games, 2 of those have been translated.
The other one won't be translated as they don't see a romance game based on a horror series getting much interest. :P
Definitely play Book of Shadows.
It contains some alternate scenarios and a final chapter as sequel to this one.

Edit: I wanted to PM you about it, get an error when I try. :(

I forgot about Corpse Party 2, I guess that might get a translation eventually.
It's already on PC.
That's weird :o, what kind of error?
I've test pm'd you, does this error still occur?
It's always nice to see more japanese games here. Wishlisted. :D

OpulentAmbrosia: Wow! Nice to see another Japanese game makes its way to here. Thanks GOG! Wishlisted for now. Too many stuffs on my hands at the moment. So many great games to play, so little time...

Maxvorstadt: So, what about the uncensored version of Knights of Xentar? It`s a japanese game and a classic!
Hmm... That's a pretty nice Japanese game and a classic no less! The only Dragon Knight series of games to be released outside of Japan...

Knights of Xentar or Dragon Knight III might have a hard time getting it here to GOG.com considering it being a Abandonware and the company who made the game: ELF Corporation now officially defunct since 2015 ... Also being a Eroge/Hentai RPG which would make the people in GOG reluctant to take it since its a stuff that they don't usually deal with, as this game kind of crosses some boundaries beyond common decency if you know what I mean. So the possibility of Knights of Xentar/Dragon Knight III getting to GOG would be low or next to impossible... JAST USA and Mangagamer is a much more suitable place for this game to be released since they legally sell Eroge/Hentai stuffs from Japan, Visual Novels and RPGs that includes Hentai contenst or so on...

Speaking of which, there's a recently released RPG Visual Novel in JAST USA named Seinarukana. You should check it out if you like playing JRPG with great story content!

Also I hope that'll the other Hyperdimension Neptunia games will finally make it here to GOG.com such as Re;Birth2: Sisters Generation, Re;Birth3 V Generation, and the recent one which is Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed that has a different gameplay unlike the previous Neptunia series of games... At the moment we only got Re;Birth1.
Terror-rific

omega64: It gets weirder, there's a new 3ds version with graphics changed a bit and new exclusive chapters.
This version has an exclusive chapter not in the psp/3ds versions.
Japanese and exclusiveness. They really like that stuff, and I don't think I'll ever get it.

I was on the fence on this one, now I'll wait for a sale. Not sure if it's good or bad, but that's how it's gonna be.

It actually makes sense with this one and the PSP version being different.
This game was episodic.
The PSP remake released before the last chapter.
As such it didn't include some stuff from this version.

Isn't the whole point of the world exclusive that it is not available anywhere else? As in, if you want to try it all, you need to buy the 3ds version to see their exclusive chapters, and the PC one for its own exclusive chapter, and who knows what else? Like tie-in manga or whatnot? I'm kinda burnt by those practices.

Keep in mind this game is from 2008, it makes sense for the new 3ds version to have new content.
Xseed just translated the original Windows version.

The new 3ds chapters are extra's to give some character development to characters that didn't get any before.

I wish we had the 3ds chapters but it makes sense that we don't.

Edit: also yeah, I guess that would be a way to get people to buy different versions.

I don't care what year this game is from, or what they are translating. History is in the past, and I'm considering purchase of a release now. If exclusive content is part of their sales pitch, I'm not supporting it. But the game does sound somewhat interesting, so I'll purchase on sale if the discount is deep enough.

I know Japanese in general love exclusive stuff. It's as much as of a seller as preffixing something with "euskal" within the Basque Country, I reckon. However, I personally don't. No hard feelings, and no need to justify it. Can't make things to the taste of everybody, and it just so happens to royally piss me off when the sales pitch involves making others unable to experience content.

Fair enough. :P
You're free to do whatever you want of course.
Everyone has different opinions and it's your money. :P
I would definitely recommend getting it, just do so at a price you're comfortable with. :)

Will do. And I hope more of this comes over to GOG. I have played a number of Japanese visual novels and they can be pretty fun. I'd rather have complete editions, but even partial ones are better than nothing.

phaolo: Wait, isn't everything free on Christmas Island? (must be the North Pole)
avatar
PaterAlf: Stuff is only free for the elves on Christmas Island. No freebies for cookie monsters. :(
Put your shoes on your knees and cover up your lower legs. No one will ever suspect you aren't an elf.

LittleCritter: Little King's Story? For real? Awesome.

And uh, Senran Kagura? The infamous Boobs VS Zombies game?...Well sooooo can we expect Song Of Saya and a bajillion BL VNs coming next? I mean, not that i...would buy the hell out of that...or anything...
I wouldn't anticipate that so soon. Corpse Party (which is an adventure game, not a full on VN) and Senran Kagura are both under the same western publisher, who happens to be friendly with the DRM-free scene. Things like Song of Saya aren't under Xseed's control so the respective publisher (JAST) would have to want to step over here first.
