Choosing the path to become either the guardian of the woods, or the terror nightmares are made of, is up to you. By living out the origins of this classic Slavic folk story you’ll create the myth of Baba Yaga.

In BLACKTAIL you play as a Yaga, a 16-year-old girl accused of witchcraft and expelled from an early medieval Slavic settlement. When living memories of her past return as foul, walking spirits,Yaga is faced with no other option than to hunt them down in hopes of unraveling her own mystery.

To discover Yaga’s past, she follows a mysterious voice leading her down the dark path to power and truth. By tracking down elusive spirits with the help of Black Cat and engaging in thrilling boss fights, Yaga’s missing memories will unravel. Every memory is an artfully crafted 2.5D narrative episode – each a mind-bending vision shedding light on Yaga’s heart and soul as well as her mysterious origins.



Expect to choose your alliances and beliefs through fairy tale-driven side quests and decide the fate of the land and its inhabitants: whether you’ll be vengeful and manipulative, or honest and compassionate to creatures of BLACKTAIL’s fantastical forest is entirely up to you.

The game’s unique morality system will change your skills as you make story defining choices allowing you to transform playstyle by using powerful Hexes and an enchanted Broom. And to further expand the gameplay, by collecting lost recipes from the ancient Grimoire and brewing elixirs in the Cauldron, you will unlock skill upgrades and grow into the tales of legend.

NuffCatnip: Combat is rather simple, you could compare it to Horizon Zero Dawn, though you have no gadgets and only a bow with different arrow types and special attacks/spells. The thing that bugs me is that sometimes combat feels clunky, I can't really describe it. It's nothing major though.
Yeah first impression looking at the screenshots it looks sorta like a HZD clone...

There is a handful of similarities, but I wouldn't get as far as calling it a clone. :)
They use a couple of the same mechanics, but I think that's where the simillarities end.

Yeah, what i've peeked at, it looks and feels more like Shadow Warrior or The Darkness, but not as polished. Also looks like they did a Shadowrun SNES and there's no melee attacks for the main character.

And invisible walls...
