Hellfire expansion is now available as a free add-on for everyone who purchases the Blizzard classic Diablo on GOG.COM.

Originally developed by Synergistic Software and released in 1997, Hellfire was not an official Blizzard product and did not carry Blizzard’s endorsement or label. Despite that, in response to Diablo players who have expressed a desire to experience the content, Blizzard has given the OK for it to be included as a free add-on with Diablo purchases on GOG.COM.

Hellfire offers a non-canonical single-player storyline where players must defeat a powerful demon named Na-Krul who is threatening Tristram. The expansion also adds a Monk class, new weapons and items, new missions, locations, dungeons, and enemies. Hellfire will be accessible while launching the original Diablo.

The Hellfire expansion comes with high-resolution support and compatibility updates to allow it to run on modern systems, and it’s available now as a free add-on for everyone who purchases the Blizzard classic Diablo. The game is currently 10% off during the Summer Sale Festival until June 17, 10 PM UTC.
Amazing news! Did not expect this. There is no reason now not to buy Diablo!
gog I have a suggestion for Diablo. When someone is playing the game it says they are playing Diablo + Hellfire and that isn't the truth necessarily. Can you make it so that it just says diablo?

Loger13: Despite the fact that I fully support the wish, I do not understand what the problem is in this particular case.
Just choose the version you need (Diablo / Diablo (classic) / Hellfire) in the launcher (I mean Diablo GOG Launcher ofc., NOT Galaxyt).
Or if you don't want to use their launchers you can just create a shortcut to diablo.exe located in the games folder. That will skip the launcher and just launch Diablo. Same as if you want Hellfire, you can just run hellfire.exe located in the hellfire sub folder.

Good idea.
Cheeky! No mail anouncement about it, and hidden conveniently behind all the front page spam about the sale and other releases. I had to notice it from the store entry reading "Diablo + Hellfire" Very cheeky!

Instabuy though.

You both give excellent advice. To clarify, my point was just that I would like to see more evenhanded treatment for us non-Galaxy users. For example, to me it is bothersome that Galaxy does have rollback, but there is not an offline equivalent to play an earlier version (obviously this is not exclusive to Diablo). But regardless I am grateful for offline installers that give us these sort of options you mention like running individual exes.
I'm not sure what I am not doing as I cannot get the Hellfire section to activate.
What hellfire expansion was coming also to original diablo?
Yoy GOG you rock!
Whu no multiplayer for hellfire?

Becuase back in the day, they had to purge it. There is a way to reactivate it, somebody in the forums said to download a modified file. This and the famous "command.txt"

Sierra was not allowed to do a multi-player mode. The devs made it anyway but since they were forbidden to implement it, they hid it behind a cheat code (see: command.txt).
Thank you! This made a great game even better!

Not really since they got heavy flak for that by the company when they got to know about this.
