Is this a joke? I was under the impression Disney payed off enough to the relevant parties to have Copyright on their products last forever... I hope it isn't a joke and the Mouse is the next to lose Disney's hold.

Steamboat Willie passed out of copyright on January 1st of this year. The versions of Mickey and Minnie Mouse designed for that cartoon are now in the public domain. However, that’s the only version currently in the public domain, the more modern designs are still under copyright.
