NuffCatnip: Hey look, it's another game by the douchebags that called us thieves, hooray! :P
Edit: Well, they rather said we are promoting piracy, but hey, it's the same thing. :P

it's true. i remember seeing the discussions with the devs.

that said, it doesn't really matter anymore. they've released every game in the series here and have maintained parity between the gog and steam builds better than a lot of devs pick their nose.
It´s still nothing but incredible to see a crowdfunded game releasing before the date that was originally planed!
On top of that, it´s a series I do like very much. Nevertheless, I will not play it right now. Proper UHD-Support is still lacking form the series (just tried the latest one out, got the same issues) but will be patched in later. I´ll wait till then; got a giant backlog anyways...

While I did not appreciate being equated with a pirate I'm very forgiving of those able to learn from their mistakes.

You already got a few responses, but let me see if I can dig the thread up.

adaliabooks: Yes. It's why the second game was (slightly) delayed in coming here. On my phone now but I'll dig up the thread about it when I have a minute.
Basically said they weren't going to release it here because people who wanted DRM free were all pirates and the original game was pirated lots and they lost money because it was on GOG (or something to that effect).
When it was pirated day 1 on Steam anyway they backtracked and released it here.

Thanks .
Here's the thread that sparked the fire:

The sad part is that they thought Steam CEG would have any sort of effect on piracy. Maybe (It's a stretch) if they used something halfway decent the might have had a point... but Steam Is your protection?

At least they learned their lesson in this (and went towards DRM-free rather than Denuvo).

But I still have to play the first two! =/ *extreme first world problems* ;)

Nnngh... I told myself I'd buy it as soon as it launches. But now I don't really have the time even to try out games as fast as I buy then in I would feel bad if I bough it any cheaper sales.

Lovely launch trailer too, btw.

And yes, I remember well the release of the second game and I was very annoyed at the time. Still bought the deluxe edition as soon as they released here and enjoyed the game a lot, even though there was an issue with the choices from the last game which is why I wanted to re-start a playtrhough before this day. You could say it's forgiven.

AaaaI'll probably buy it anyway and it will be collecting digital dust until I have time. :S

Even though I pre-ordered the Legendary Edition, it shows me I own the Standard Edition + Soundtrack.

I have everything from the Legendary Edition on my game-page, so everything is OK, but this is really confusing.
Wow, I didn't realize it was out today! I'm really excited to play it, but I'm keeping my expectations in check... I'm not sure if they'll be able to satisfactorily wrap up the fantastic story that they started with the first two.
So we're not a bunch of scummy pirates anymore? Oh, how nice of you, devs.
Not gonna buy, not with your past attitude.
I'll be waiting a few months for the bugs to be ironed out(ACG mentioned a nasty one) and turning my money to either Ni No Kuni 2 or that Shining Song game.
Look forward to playing it, waited patiently, hope it's as good if not better than the first two.
I pre-ordered it, and am actually quite eager to play it.
However, I will wait a few days or weeks until most bugs are fixed. Having your main character's skills broken isn't the best way to start a game...
Weird thing about these games, the first Banner Saga was a huge deal, that animation style graphics, the hype was amazing and the game was very popular. Then BS2 came out of nowhere with little to no fanfare, I didn't even know it was in development until the day it was out.
