That escalated quickly.

<span class="bold">Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation</span>, the stand-alone expansion that intensifies the RTS conflict between Humans and Substrate, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer. Purchasing Escalation until November 17 gives you a free copy of Ashes of the Singularity. Owners of Ashes of the Singularity get a permanent 50% discount on Escalation.

The galaxy is on fire. Spaceships fall from the sky and the forces of the Post Human Coalition clash with the Substrate across massive battlefields, as the gears of war keep grinding on. What could cause an even further Escalation ?

How about two new campaigns, chronicling the origin of the Substrate and an internal rebellion that threatens to pull the humans apart? Or perhaps the new gameplay elements and maps, that allow for even more intense, large-scale combat. Add to these the balance-upsetting new buildings, units, and upgrades, and it's easy to see how things can get wild in the already chaotic battlegrounds covered in Ashes of the Singularity.

Adapt your strategies and prepare for even more massive battles between humans and machines in <span class="bold">Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation</span>, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Those who get the game until November 17, 5:59 PM UTC will get a free code for <span class="bold">Ashes of the Singularity</span> added to their account between November 18-21. Owners of the original Ashes of the Singularity get a permanent 50% discount on Escalation.

Will have to check out performance improvements before even thinking about it. I'm so unhappy with this business model, right now.
edit: performance because you can make maps even bigger AND you can have twice the number of players. I just don't understand how it's even possible under the level of optimisation that the original game had.

Can someone that has bought Escalation confirm if the single player campaign includes the original game campaign too?

GOG.com: snip
Is this still not playable with Steam owners though? Games locked to GOG multiplayer isn't ideal since the crowd isn't for that anyway. :/

According to the Steam forums, the original campaign is included :)
Still no update on Vulkan and/or LAN?

The lack of either has kept me from purchasing.

ColonelCorone: Quick question about getting a copy of Ashes of the Singularity for free if you buy Escalation. Would this free copy have all the DLCs included or no?
No, Stardock explained pre-release that dlc for Ashes applies for Escalation since its the same game and they will not do it as with previous games and add it to the new standalone expansion. So you have to buy dlc separately.

Edit: I see that gog still didn't add the dlc to the Escalation page. Might wan't to fix that soon gog team.

Eitherway looking forward to this and hopping it will come closer to epicness of Supreme Commander. Original Ashes was a very shallow, boring experience. Hopefully they improved it a lot besides just working on the engine all the time.

Plus I hope they worked a bit on the rush mentality off the game and enable users to use other options then just that. And hopefully improved boring map control economy system that promotes rush gameplay.

Also the multiplayer for this game is totally dead. Even if you managed to get in a game you will get kicked out by other players cause all the games are essentially private games so you can't play at all. Even on Steam the highest daily number for multi players is 70 which tells you all plus splitting the player base in to Steam and gog systems ultimately cuts off the base further.

Also for new buyers for later on "don't buy Ashes of the Singularity just buy Escalation since Ashes is entirely included in Escalation" minus its dlc that you have to buy separately for Escalation.

the game looks beautiful if total annihilation and destruction can be such a thing, unfortunately I will have to watch someones 'let play' of it as I dont have the head for strategy games
Is this taking over place of the earlier version? Is the first set of stuff also in this one?
Also, isn't this going to split the minuscule player base even further?

Thanks for this! I was still a little confused about the whole thing. Does this mean that the current DLCs for the original Ashes is no longer relevant for Escalation, and that Escalation will be getting it's own line of DLCs? Or is it not correct?

The same dlc as for Ashes applies also for Escalation and yes Escalation will also get new dlc too.

Also if you buy the game now you get Ashes also if you wan't to play it but I don't see any reason to launch that after Escalations arrival.

So, did anyone get their free code? Nada here.
Does the GoG build of Core Worlds need a little more time or what's the hold-up?

I'm more amazed by the fact that Oxide/Stardock keep releasing DLCs for the game, but fail to address one of its main shortcomings: the fact that it only has two factions with a very similar playstyle.
