If you’re looking for chilling, lovecraftian adventures, you came to the right place – because Alone in the Dark is now out, with a -10% launch discount until March 27th, 2 PM UTC!

Alone in the Dark weaves a chilling tapestry of psychological horror and Southern Gothic charm, reimagining the iconic game that set the benchmark for the genre. We invite you to join us on a journey into madness, where each encounter could be your last. With each step you take closer to unravelling Derceto's mystery, the eyes that watch from the darkness grow hungrier. Every bullet means the difference between survival and an unthinkable end. The next door you unlock could lead to a nightmarish realm offering nothing but slashing claws, grasping tentacles, and frayed sanity. Journey to interbellum Louisiana, where an era of decadence hides a darker tale - of escape from past traumas and an intolerant society, into the waiting grasp of something darker, something that has patiently lurked for impossible eons. This is Alone in the Dark as you've never seen it - a skillfully-woven narrative of Southern Gothic elegance and eldritch madness that pays homage to its legendary origins while taking the next step forward in survival horror storytelling.

You can now also get:

Atreyu666: Have you already played it?
Some review stated that the combat is pretty weak, is that true?

Shmacky-McNuts: Es ist ein Witz über den Preis

lol
Oh, duh! :D

Okay, I see. I'm just waiting for some more reviews before I buy.
The Guardian and Eurogamer reviews were quite honest and brutal. AitD remake looks to be a bargain bin game.

"Excellent" review here - 4,5/5.
Guess it depends on what you look for in a game.
The game seems to have clunky combat but good immersion, and a good or bad story depending on which reviewer you choose to trust ;)

Chilli Con Carnbe; does it have the Lowpoly graphics switch, or was that a hallucination?

So the developers preserved this from the original Alone In The Dark? Here is a funny review

the original Mighty Star Warrior Carnby is in the costume pack you can get as a DLC or in the Deluxe edition

???

I thought there was a switch like Secret of Monkey Island Remake, where you'd bash a key and back to old graphics with you!
With that Triple-A price, this game had better be Triple-A quality.

But I'm gonna need to see a whole bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews before I risk this kind of money.

Also that third person battle scene in the trailer looked really wonky, and the view was sub-optimal. I don't suppose there is a first person option? Highly doubtful considering the game's heritage, but it might be helpful here during battles.

XYCat: so is the game good? :D
I've watched a number of impression and review videos. I keep hearing it's a good game... but... not a great game.

Also, mentioned often is... if you have nostalgia for the Alone in the Dark series, you will probably quite enjoy this game.

Although a number of videos claimed there are a number of issues -- storytelling and gameplay -- a few said this is a good re-start for the series and they are interested in the future of Alone in the Dark.

IMHO it sounds like a solid AA horror game alongside something like Frogware's The Sinking City. Is Alone in the Dark over-priced? IMO it's a bit over-priced for what was delivered ($39.99 would have seemed more realistic IMO)...

... but...

... for me it's definitely a buy once the price comes down a bit.

(although -- being a freak for historical accuracy -- for me... Carnaby's fedora is a style not fully popularized until the 60's and much of the music used isn't indicative of 1920's jazz... but then a lot of games get historical clothing and music wrong)

i wonder if it's costing so much because they decided to use lame movie actors to do the voicing. Because from what I seen the game is not looking like 60 dollar price tag.

That would be my guess... and they did a lot of mo-cap alongside the dialogue.

While I think both actors are fine, I don't see that they have enough cache in the gaming world to support the casting. It's not like Keanu in CP2077; quality of CP2077 on release aside, Keanu's appearance did shift some copies. I don't see any gamer digging pennies out of the sofa and racing to the store to get Alone in the Dark for David Harbour's Carnaby! ;)

It's surprising the game has little over 100 reviews on steam right now. Which is really small for game that is supposed to be AA.

ThomNG: Enjoy & have fun! Hope you like it!
Mod message: The information below is not true. Prices on GOG are the same as the ones on other official digital storefronts.

a bit off topic , but i post it in here :

Since the publisher ( THQ Nordic ) sets the prices ( even for the current Spring Sale )
Can you please explain why your company charge us more for the DRM free version of the same game than for the one that is infested with the Steam DRM ?

For example :

Desperados III Digital Deluxe Edition 12.56€ on Gog , 8,67€ in elsewhere
Elex II 20€ on Gog , 12,15€ in elsewhere
Expeditions: Rome 18.02€ on Gog , 9,71€ in elsewhere
SpellForce 3 Reforced 10€ on Gog , 5,90€ in elsewhere
and i can continue this list

Is our money worth less for your company or we don't deserve the same discounts that you offer for others ?

Leave it to THQ Nordic (yet again), to have managed to overprice a AA-game to AAA-game at launch that looked good on the paper but fell a short on the execution. Poor optimization and combat mechanics, clunky, too bright, limited keybindings and too easy/short plot seems to be common threads.

I'm having a flashback to The Callisto Protocol and Biomutant again.

Not exactly fan of the lead actor either after the monologue he made a few years back. Maybe I should just play SOMA and Stasis again while I wait for a price drop?

At least they didn't do as Ubisoft and called it quadruple-A-game, and I hear the the lamp does not chronically need a replacement battery, so that's a huge bonus.
