If you enjoyed Age of Wonders 4, we have some great news for you – Age of Wonders 4: Expansion Pass 3 is now available on GOG!

Age of Wonders 4: Expansion Pass 3 takes you to the far reaches of the Astral Sea, where
forsaken realms and forbidden powers await discovery. With a rich lineup of content, Expansion
Pass 3 brings new challenges and adventures that will open vast new horizons for your rule.

But that’s not the end of the good news – Age of Wonders 4: Thrones of Blood is coming soon on GOG, and you can now wishlist it! With this DLC, you can rise as a powerful vampire ruler, build your dark empire in the shadows, and wield ancient blood magic to dominate the realms.

Check them out!
Upíři! Upíři! Upíři! ٩(^◡^)۶ Thats my cuppa
It was expected, however firstly i would like them to fix their bloody game!
Tested it on two computers and it didn't start. It's the only game that doesn't start. Currently nothing works, and they're charging a premium price for this game.

The new expansion before basic, basic bugs are fixed it's kind of insulting.

I admit I wasn't a fan of some of the changes from Planetfall (I particularly missed mods, dwellings and the flavor text) but they've really improved the game since then.

Most people don't like tons of DLC but I'm interested to see where this game goes from here.

Are you in contact with their support? I'm not aware of any large scale problems with the game and it works fine for me.

What's your setup?

On computer a) i got this error:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/game-crashes-upon-reaching-main-menu.1581188/
and on b) this one:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/cant-start-the-game-anymore.1713050/

Already tried all the recommended fixes, and nothing worked!
The only thing i didn't tried is BETAS hotfix (a steam solution not on GOG) and launch options -dx11 (also a steam solution).

I'm increasingly convinced for a decently sized 4X or grand strategy, there is no other model. These games really need long-term care and space to grow slowly. That, coupled with their rather niche appeal practically guarantees you won't get something really satisfying from an actual one-time purchase. These aren't the 90s anymore, the base expectations are much, much higher and keeping it interesting requires the ability to experiment a bit (and change course when necessary).

There were long, long years for me where I couldn't scratch my 4X itch properly at all. Barely anything came out and the few sprouts there were dried up before they could get really interesting.

And dito on Planetfall. AoW4 came a long, very positive way but there are still some areas where I really, really wished they had iterated and refined on Planetfall instead of throwing it away and going a different way.

Ubuntu 25.04 using Heroic Games Launcher to install directly from the GOG store. A Radeon RX 5700 with some more-than-a-decade-old Intel CPU.

Yeah the graphic card definitely isn't the issue here, and i did tried to installed it on Ubuntu 20.04 with wine (10.0) (after failing on windows 11), i might give the Heroic Launcher a try.

Though i see the game received an update, maybe i will have more luck with the latest version. Will try that first.
Try Proton GE (just download within HGL and select it for the game). The Ubuntu-packaged Wine 10 will probably not cut it without annoying extra work and the very early Proton GE 10s had problems running it too. Either pick one of the old Proton GE 9 or the reasonably newer ones. 10.15 was the one I had selected for it.
Age of Wonders 4 is the new Stellaris
Fantastic! I love this game and will purchase this expansion without hesitation. That being said I really hope this is the last and final expansion for AoW4. 3 years of post-launch support is great but it would be really sad if the developers were trapped forever in this single game and also I really want Planetfall 2 at some point in time (or maybe an Age of Wonders Tactics?).

However, the update that came with this announcement is disappointing. Like I said, I love the game but I'm not blind to all the bugs, clunky UI/UX and lack of QoL, translation issues... that could turn this great game into a legendary one. I understand Triumph has to sell new stuff to pay the bills (and save Paradox after they fumbled all their other projects in the last 2 years, not to mention they continue to fumble the upcoming ones out of greed), but I would really appreciate if they were taking more time to polish the game.

Good to know. Saves me a lot of money...

In the video to the season pass on of the developers admits that it's possible to create glittery vampires. That makes it even easier for me to save the money...
