Act of War: Gold Edition, a 2005 RTS wonder, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com!

Act of War: Gold Edition is a sleeper-hit real time strategy game written by well known author and veteran Dale Brown. The terrorists have made their way onto US soil, and you're in charge of a new direct action operations group known as Task Force TALON. Your only resource here is money, but you'll have to look in various places to maintain a steady flow - that includes extracting oil, capturing POWs, and even the occasional bank raid (for the greater good). Act of War Gold Edition features fully destructible environments, gameplay that will force you out of your unit-spam habit, and plenty of live-action cutscenes for some real well written camp.

This Gold Edition pack includes the Act of War: High Treason expansion pack set three years after the events in the base game. Aside from a brand new campaign, the expansion introduces two new skirmish modes, battles at sea and 50+ new units with plenty of graphics and gameplay improvements.

mrelusive603: I'll think you find it does work :)

(Quote from my other forum post)

You don't need to download or install anything. The map editor is actually the same EXE as the main game.

1. Go to your AOW-HT directory.
2. Copy the ActOfWar_HighTreason.exe and rename it AOW_HT_Editor.exe
3. Set to WinXP SP2 compatability, disable visual themes etc (see attached image).

Then just run that EXE whenever you want to make maps.

tinyE: ANOTHER HOCKEY FAN!
Who has his PM turned off forcing me to derail this thread. :P
Whoops - PM fixed.

And yes, GO RED WINGS! :P
Oh yesh! I finally got this! I had only the AoW: DA retail version but I missed the HT expansion pack. Now I can finally play this 100%!
I've loved this RTS so much...Oh yesh! YESH!

PS: Is there anyone playing online?

Nope -- online multiplayer used GameSpy, which is dead and buried (as was this thread...).
(But see OMGClassicGames' comment above regarding online play using the LAN option.)

Sufyan: On another note, I was concerned that this game might not have the silly charm of C&C Generals but then I noticed the "C.I.A. armored van" in one of the GOG screenshots.

tinyE: I mentioned this in another post; terrorist attack Buckingham Palace. IMO it doesn't get any more silly than that. :P
Until you watch 'London has Fallen'.
It just got more silly

I really like this game, dunno why. Maybe it's because it's like the good old red alert i used to play as a kid, but kinda done right.
