Hello, I'm new to buying on GOG, sorry if this is a fool question (and my poor english). I bought a game that had many issues with the cutscenes, so I sent a refund request to my wallet and it was accepted in less than 24 hours. The game disappeared from my library, but the money didn't go to my wallet. My question is that when I looked up how long a refund can take, the website said that the wallet refunds are instant when they are approved, so I don't know if this is normal and I just need to wait or if something went wrong.

This happened yesterday, so I'm not upset or anything, just curious for the future in case I need to refund something again (I hope not).

Thank you!

Likely waiting for your initial payment to go through first - so they can THEN refund that. What was your payment method?

Also, as a new account that might affect things too.

Funds in your wallet SHOULD be instant, being as the resources are their own local accounting.

You may have to make another ticket, though flagging a blue down and having them look into it. If it's some minor glitch i'm sure it will get fixed. Though i think there's more database issues as of late than before.

Just out of curiosity, did you purchase the game? Or did you redeem a gift game? (If you redeemed a gift, I'm not sure if you or the purchaser gets the refund...)

Ahhh that could be it too. transactions tend to take 3-5 business days to complete. So a delay until they actually acquire the funds may be in order.

Though to note i never had issues with funds in my wallet in Paypal when purchasing games here...

My payment method was a debit card and it all happened in less than 24 hours so it may be related to that, plus my account is new. Thanks for reply!

yeah you'll prob have to wait a day or two for the debit card payment to "clear" from your bank - then it should be pretty quick at gogs end.

not sure on new account status with refunds but it does affect gifting (~$10usd spent before you can i think?).

if using paypal balance its near instantaneous - and still quicker than a debit card in my experience using paypal generally (unless they dont refund directly via paypal - because then you have to wait again).

thanks for the help! Yes, the game was purchased. Based on the answers you gave me, it seems that buying the game, testing it, seeing that the problem with the cinematics was unfortunately quite common and requesting a refund, all in just a couple of hours, could be the reason of the problem

if you still can. reply to the same ticket or you go to the back of the queue. if not possible, use the ticket number as your subject header / at the top of your ticket (prob copy/paste it all in further down for good measure too).

PayPal offers two link types: bank account or credit/debit card. If you link your bank account the funds will take a while (couple of days?) to clear. If you link via a debit card as an intermediary, then the funds will clear within minutes. Not certain whether this delay extends from beyond the bank/PayPal to PayPal/GOG, but it's possible I use a debit card linked to PP, so I haven't dabbled in the slower method to know for sure.

nope. what you have quoted from me is reference to a direct balance on paypal (much like gog / steam wallet). not the card or direct debit end of things.
THAT is what i am specifically talking about there.

Ahhh, sorry. Missed that "balance" bit.

Yeah. In the event your credit card or bank has to be pinged, sometimes payment can fail. But money in the balance when i used it was instant and never had issues. It also didn't take much to transfer say $200 to your wallet, and then just have it hanging out until you have need to use it.
